Dimensional Holophonic Sound: Even though they didn't put out just one thing, it was more of a burst of things then a complete disappearance. N-Joi: When are we going to see that album? Bleep & Booster: Genki Oh Hi Ho Bang Bang: Please Holger, PLEASE! Jam & Spoon: Stella EP and a collection of breaks? Pied Piper: Or was it Orbital? Transformer 2: Actually an album is supposed to be in the works. Miranda Sex Garden & Thrash: Do it to me one more time. TC '91 '92 '93: One hit wonder a year only, thank you.

Atlantis - whatever happened to them/him? "Paradise" was just... heavenly. :-) - chris@minsk.docs.uu.se

*this makes a good topic for a new thread though: what are your *favorite "one hit wonders"? Oh, boy. There are so many... A Guy Called Gerald - Ok, he put out more than one single, but they weren't actually succesful, were they. Mr Monday - A classic house tune from this one man house act, but what happened after that? Fortran 5 - "Heart on the Line" was a classic pop tune, but the follow ups have been, well, less satisfactory. Ultraviolet - Again "Kites" was a classic tune, but now followed with the grandiose disappearing act. Together - Remember "Hardcore Uproar"? Tuff Little Unit - I wish they had made another record (well, they made two but the second was generally unknown). 2 Men a Drum Machine - "Tired of Getting pushed Around" was probably meant to be a one hit wonder from the very start. Hardfloor - In a way they only made a one tune. But boy, was it a good one! The Age of Love - They're success was more due to Jam & Spoon than themselves, so I guess they'll be one hit wonders unless they find another pair of magic remixers. Modus Vivendi (on WARP) - or maybe it's too early to call them one hit wonders? Massive Attack - Their album was one *big* hit for me. And then nothing. Why, oh why... Joi - Baby Ford's labelmates only put out one record on Transglobal and blew me away. I hear they're active on the PA rounds, but I haven't heard of any new releases. Spill - William Orbit's pop band with an unknown female singer provided the *the* pop single of '92. Does anybody know where I could find the album (if it exists, that is). Colourbox - Classic northen house sound. Where's the rest of it? And last but not least, remember the "band" that put out "It's Grim up North"? A classic one hit wonder, if there ever was one :) cheers, samu -- "The first sign of a nervous breakdown is when you start thinking your work is terribly important." - Milo Bloom

I dunno - didn't he claim some credit for "Pacific State?"

Definitely. It was recorded by the other two members of Fine Young Cannibals while Roland Gift was pursuing an acting career, as you might already have known. C. -- (chris.hilker) cspot@cats.ucsc.edu

According to Mixmag they have a new album out called "Electric Mothers Of Invention". And they call themselves Neuro Project 2. Got 9/10 in the reviews section.

I talked to one of them about a month ago and he said they were looking for a better record deal. When they get it they will re-release that single again with more promotion.

I'd say The Timelords were more classic one hit wonders than JAMS. - chris@minsk.docs.uu.se

actually hardfloor has had success after hardtrance acperience, but i know what the point is - that all their different songs are actually the same one.. ;) but anyway, their full length release has shown up on quite a few playlists including sven vath's (of course), and their remix of robert armani's circus bells is currently making the rounds.. the mix is more hardfloor than armani but it _does_ take a slightly different turn on their sound, even if it is just a slight difference.. thinking of one hit wonders, how bout humate - 'love stimulation'? unless they've done something under different names that i'm not aware of this would be my choice, even though the song was made a hit more by paul van dyk than by humate themselves..

There's supposed to be some new material from them finally nearing completion. You can see why Shara Nelson finally got fed up with their snail's pace work rate and left...

It doesn't. Singer Beth Orton also features on Orbit's Water From a Vine Leaf. -- Stephen Hebditch TQM Communications steveh@orbital.demon.co.uk
