Aphex vs. Hawkwind
I just spotted in our Sunday rag that here in Glasgow, there will be a "Aphex Twin vs. Hawkwind" show soon. a) Is this a one off, or has there already been similar nights ? b) How "deep" does it all get ? c) How do Hawkwind still manage to talk, after taking all that "industrial strength" acid they keep boasting about ?!? I'm almost scared to admit to it (here) , but I've never conciously heard an Aphex track, ie. I've most certainly heard him, but it's never been in a "this is an Aphex Twin record" type situation :) Unfortunately my own creating has taken over any cash I would have had to stock up on vinyl, so I've been unable to afford any of the "suck this if you're a beginner" releases. Anyway .... I'm very much into quality house and dub cuts, so would I enjoy an Aphex concert? Is it a beatless night of floaty synths, or does it have it's danceable moments? How good is he live ... sublime? or not as good as on vinyl ????? y'all don't pummel me *too* much for being a beginner here.
