total: 73:56 (a very full CD-R!)
my informal notes, which will have to serve as a review (apologies
in advance):
1 beatless track with breathy pads serves as a nice intro.
2 crunchy electro with overdriven percussion. this would be fun to dj with.
3 afx-electro style remixed by the dot krew - this track keeps running
around in my head - yummy.
4 stripped down computer melody - reminds me of donkey rhubarb (sans
the steel drums) for some reason - despite the title, the sounds used
need to be 'wetter' imo
5 haunting ambient reload-type soundtrack with pole atmospherics - nice!
6 OTT sample frenzy - you may love this or hate it, but i think it's cool.
kid606 is on idm, but who is SCSI bear? love the name!
7 what if monolake released a grinding, noisy electro soundtrack on CR?
try this instead. your patience will be rewarded.
8 mmmmm! deep, chain reaction-influenced techno groove thang from idm's
bauri. it's so lovely to heard this w/o mp3 compression. more please!
9 who is r.d.? fun computer melody track with a bouncy plucked
guitar-sounding
sample which propels things along nicely. i really love this - i picture
a robot with arms extended lurching towards you seeking to 'lay one on ya'.
who is r.d.?!?
10 hard, 4x4 trancy stuff. a little too underdeveloped imo.
11 this is a drum n' bass track, but oooh! go!... away! the vox sample used
here annoys the shit out of me. not to my taste.
12 i've only heard the lesser on the 'altered states of america' comp. this
is more 'out there' with it's own alien drum n' bass groove.
13 analog-driven electro w/ drum n' bass influences - nod to the jega-mindset.
14 ambient soundscape which would sound at home on MoM's sonig label. sounds
lovely at high volume, but at just over 2 minutes this is just too short.
15 the infamous disc! digital CD torture - or reich on crank. i don't know
if i could listen to an entire *disc* of this, heh, but it's cool.
16 improvised tweaks and textures over breakbeats. enter the planet of the
mad monkeys...
i think daniel is still getting distribution sorted on this, so i don't
know a street date.
