Last night's show at Highline Ballroom kicked ass. I haven't danced that much in
ages and at the end of it I was not worn out but exhilarated.
DJ Dave P, Ellen Allien, and Modeselektor were all excellent in their own ways. Yes
Allien only did a DJ set but it was nearly seamless and she did fun stuff like mix
two of her own tracks simultaneously and use tiny snippets of recognizeable songs
in the midst of a big long tribal groovefest. Cool visuals too.
But Modeselektor had to be last, because they stole the show. The music was
pumping, the bass (!) was off the hook, and they even showered the crowd with
champagne in reference to a video they do.
But my reason for posting this is to say:
ANYONE WHO WAS THERE TIL THE END, PLEASE HELP ME IDENTIFY ONE SONG THEY
PLAYED!
Shortly after the Otto Von Shirach "Hyper" Bass song, they played a few minutes of
a techno song from the early 90s I have been trying to find since then. Total ACID
TECHNO SYNTH LINE, descending notes. Kinda similar to 808state's "Cubik" hook
but more trippy. Very Lords of Acid-ish "Lust" era. WTF was that!?!?! PLEASE!
