artist-prion, title-ep, format-cd-r, label-polyp
something for fans of skam, v/vm, mas, etc.
track one - features lo-fi sounds set against mournful strings and
subtle breakbeats. prion seem to have got the knack of making you want
the songs to last a lot longer, bit like bytes era black dog. really
cheeky use of eighties sounds in this and the other tracks.
track two - old school breaks distort over the industrial
undercurrent of this track, not dissimilar to the recent gescom remix of
push button objects, but much harder/faster. don't be put off by the
t'pau sample.
track three - sort of short interlude, live recording (by the sound
of it) of the beginning of track four over which someone is heard to say
"it sounds shit to me" then track four begins.
track four - easily the best track on the ep. a remix/reworking of a
propaganda tune from long ago. the vocals are compressed and wrapped in
very distorted breakbeats. the strings are sinister and really give this
track it's edge. if you liked mask2 then this is definately up your
street.
track five - track four ends like it began, it switches to a live
recording, this time same person is heard to say "it still sounds shit".
i think it's only available mail order in the uk, like previous polyp
releases, but it's definately worth the effort.
