Sorry this is a bit off topic, but I don’t want to sign up to the idm making list for one question, and there doesn’t seem to be a tonne of stuff going on here that im interrupting with this inquiry anyway… regardless, I apologize for not being directly artist/label/music related. In Ableton Live is there any way to define MIDI or keyboard controls that apply to the currently selected track instead of having to assign my whole midi controller to control track one, track two, track three, etc, etc, etc.? It seems kind of restricting if I want to be popping out live stuff on the fly, there is a lot of prep work involved in having to assign all the midi controls to each new track as I create it…. Thoughts? Thanks, Mantrakid HYPERLINK "http://www.neferiu.com"www.neferiu.com www.mantrakid.com -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. You can set every function in Ableton to any key, button, knob, etc on your MIDI device and/or computer keyboard. Press Ctrl+K to get the Keyboard mapping screen. Click on the control you want to map, press a key, and it's mapped. Hit Ctrl+K again to exit the keyboard screen, and return to normal functionality. MIDI map works exactly the same using Ctrl+M. - jobot On 5/23/06, Mantrakid <mantrakid@neferiu.com> wrote:

I guess then my question is if there are universal functions hidden somewhere instead of track specific ones? Im guessing no, but it’s a huge hassle to have to map out my my whole group of pedals to record/stop/play specific tracks when I just want to record/stop/play whatever track is selected, and be able to switch back and forth between them to access different tracks and slots. If I'm understanding you, you're looking for Relative Session View Mapping. Go into Midi or Key mapping mode, then look at the area of the Session where you normally see the clip status "pie charts". Instead of clip stop buttons, you'll see play arrows. Now, look in the same row, underneath the Scene launch buttons. You'll see a few buttons there that didn't exist before: Another play button (this one for scenes), an up and down arrow and a number value box. You can assign a button or key to each of the scene up/down arrows to move through the session, or assign a relative controller to the number value box to select scenes. With keys set to each track's play button, you can launch any existing clip or begin recording a new one. Try it, you'll like it. On 5/23/06, Mantrakid <mantrakid@neferiu.com> wrote:
