Most people know of Twine as an incredibly talented duo, that create
beautiful and haunting experimental music. I know at least half of Twine
as the guy who once tacked all of my shoes and socks to the ceiling of my
bedroom, also as the guy who used to fill the front seat of my car with
rocks. He also hid pizza boxes in my bed. That's why I'm continually
impressed by the ability of Chad Mossholder and Greg Malcolm to produce
mature, thoughtful and emotional music.
The music contained on the At Land EP continues the tradition of mildly
discomforting and beautifully simple abstract music that Twine has become
known for. The five tracks that make up the 44 minutes of this release
provide a cohesive listening experience that is alternately emotional and
quietly contemplative. Hissing dissonance and moody synths and strings
characterize this release and help form an overall feeling of longing and
isolation. At Land is a perfect candidate for eyes closed headphone
listening, or for whenever you feel like pretending you're in a David
Lynch film (which should be most of the time.).
