Anyone pining for the glory days of Warp (when Detroit, techno and what branched off into idm were still bubbling in a less segregated stew) would do well to spend some time with the new Ai compilation. The label has issued some nice things over the past several years, but this one is especially solid. Those initials make sense. jeff --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I was just going to write in about this one. Been driving in to work with it for the past couple days. The quaility and consistency from Ai is on another level. More great ELECTRONIC tracks from artists I don't know, but whose full-lengths or EPs I'm now eagerly anticipating. Can't even imagine what Ai has in store for us this year. OK. Not wishing to carp, but... I have to say that I've been less than impressed by some of Ai's releases. For a label that's been much-trumpeted, the likes of Yunx 'In the Heat of the Night', Jacen Solo 'Virgo', and Michael Manning 'Public' (off the top of my head) were pretty pedestrian outings. Not to mention patchy earlier comps like 'New Town'. So, my question is, given that my boat remained distinctly unfloated by the abovementioned, is there reason to be that interested in this here 2006 sampler? alan --On 17 March 2006 09:08 -0500 Alan Lucas <alucas@gmail.com> wrote:

My answer is an unequivocal 'yes'. I would agree that not everything has been stellar (after some really nice early outings), but I wouldn't hesitate to push this one on anyone who loved the old Artificial Intelligence comps. Much like the Landesvatter, you're missing out on some choice audio if you let it pass you by. jeff -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: Alan Lockett <Alan.R.Lockett@bristol.ac.uk>
