Amen to both of those. Had I not been paying attention before, or has techno got really really good recently? Yes!!!! When I were a lad, whenever anyone got a record they liked, they'd stick some sort of micro-review on idm-l to let other people know and spread the love. These days the first you hear about it is when they sell it on ebay. I don't know why this has happened but it's really annoying - I got a lot of my favorite records after people around here recommended them. Not really IDM (although there are some glitches in there) but the Tunng album rocks, and the new EP with the Bloc Party cover rocks even more. Sileni's also fantastic on an IDM / minimal DnB crossover tip. Dave (Sorry about the threadkenstein resurrection of a rather old post.) good recently? Metope 'Kobol' (AREAL), anyone? Maybe technically too slow for techno, but it's big boomin' bangin' stuff with an er... intelligent design sensibility behind it. alan ---------------------- Alan Lockett (Senior Language Co-ordinator - EFL) Language Centre, University of Bristol, 30-32 Tyndall's Park Road, Bristol, BS8 1PY, UK tel: +44 (0)117 3310914 e-mail: Alan.R.Lockett@bristol.ac.uk --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
