Yes!!!! When I were a lad, whenever anyone got a record they liked, they'd stick some sort of micro-review on idm-l to let other people know and spread the love. These days the first you hear about it is when they sell it on ebay. I don't know why this has happened but it's really annoying - I got a lot of my favorite records after people around here recommended them. Not really IDM (although there are some glitches in there) but the Tunng album rocks, and the new EP with the Bloc Party cover rocks even more. Sileni's also fantastic on an IDM / minimal DnB crossover tip. Dave (Sorry about the threadkenstein resurrection of a rather old post.) Tunng played a free show at the Barbican in London on saturday. I'd seen em before and they were good, but not that tight. Saturday, they seem to have come a long way and were absolutely astounding live. Total crowd pleasers, but in a good way. In a somewhat similar(-ish) vein, i picked up two 7"s by Various Productions on saturday which are sounding ace. They're in a somewhat folkey acoustic electronic vein, but the backing music is much nastier, sounding somewhat Grime-like. I'm really wanting to listen to them again, but unfortunately on saturday my amplifier melted which sucks. I did manage to record the fucked up sounds the amp was making before it totally died, so it wasnt a total loss, but now i'm reduced to headphones on the laptop or my computer speakers in the kitchen until i get a new amp. D'oh, like a week after i got my turntable as well. grr! thor --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
