Hey! Well, the obligatory Happy New Year and all that! Hope you had a good 2005 and heres to an even better upcoming '06. Looking back, 2005 was quite a great little year for the label, and the stumbling amateur unit that we are, actually managed to pull together a semblance of professionalism! We had some great releases from Like A Stuntman, Bovaflux, Village Orchestra, Fuck-off Machete, and the Marcia Blaine School For Girls curated compilation of ace scottish electronics, some of which you will be hearing more of in the upcoming months.. We put on some great shows, with people like Isan, Hands On Heads, DJ Scotch Egg, Leafcutter John, sanso xtro, Phil Collins 3, 65daysofstatic, along with, of course our own mighty acts! The Like A Stuntman summer tour was a great time, and was brilliant to see them back briefly in December, as was the Tigrics tour with Si-cut.db, and Fisk Industries out in Barcelona. Our London Electrics consortium with Seed, AI Records, Expanding, Uncharted Audio and SRL resulted in the release of a great wee compilation, and even saw our ugly mugs grace the pages of the December issue of Plan B magazine, in an article highlighting the strength of the current UK electronic scene. Nice article. More magazine appearances for the Village Orchestra, with a nice full page pic and interview in the December issue of Undercover, and an interview in the German De:bug magazine. That's also over a year now that we have been hosting our monthly Resonance FM slot, and we've really been enjoying the opportunity to play out some wacked out music on air, and just generally been having a ball of it! Here's to 2006 and more good times! Starting 2006 off with an explosive one, we have the new release by randomNumber, titled "Golden Acre Sleeps", now available at our usual collaborators - posteverything.com, Smallfish and Norman records - due for general release on February 13th. First reviews are saying... "It's good, really good....there's a lot more ambience in there and it's still crunchy in that Funkstorung way." Norman Records "Traces of early Autechre with a large doses of all things shoegazetronic" Smallfish records. You can grab yourself a free randomNumber remix alongside that of Fisk Industries, Tigrics, and Bovaflux over at our website, where we have just uploaded a new free digital download EP - a collection of Like A Stuntman tracks reworked and mashed right up.. We'll also be unveiling details of that 7" series we've been hankering on about, and also a DVD side-label that should be taking off this year. We've been asked to hand in a few top tens of 2005 for different places, and i have to admit i've given a different one each time, its just too hard to whittle them down, so with that, heres what we have enjoyed this year.. 13& God - 13&God Acid House Kings - Sing Along With the Acid House Kings Afrirampo - Kore Ga Mayaku Da Animal Collective - Feels Autechre - Untilted Bichi - Notwithstanding Black Dice - Broken Ear Record Broken Social Scene - Broken Social Scene Calika - Small Talk Kills Me Cocteau Twins - Lullabies To Violaine Dangerdoom - The Mouse And The Mask Deaf Center - Pale Ravine Death Sentence: Panda! - Puppy, Kitty Or Both Dj Koze - Kosi Comes Around Dj Scotch Egg - KFC Core Ezekiel Honig and Morgan Packard - Early Morning Migration Fenton - Pup Hulk - Silver Threads Of A Ghost Jackson And His Computer Band - Smash Mark Clifford / Simon Kealoha - s/t Modeselektor - Hello Mom!
