Hello IDM folks!
I'm currently putting out the feelers for some new material that is
required for a new label.
The label is called brainfuk and the kind of music I'm looking for
should do exactly that but we're open minded as to exactly how you go
about it.
What we plan to do is launch the label with a compilation CD featuring
unsigned artists.

I'll answer a few of your questions now, as I know there will be a few:
Q: Will we get paid for it?
A: Yes, assuming the album sells. Of course, if you're signed with a
collection agency you will get royalties also if the music is aired
anywhere that pays a license fee.
Q: How will the CD be marketed?
A: The majority of marketing will be web based. Though press releases
will be sent to printed press. We are a startup, so our marketing
budget is as tight as a duck's bottom.
Q: How will the CD be produced and sold?
A: The initial production and sales will be via cdbaby. If there is
enough interest there will be a small scale production and distribution
run via a UK distributor. Unfortunately, it is unlike to hit stores
worldwide but we have internet these days, so...
Q: Is brainfuk a true independent label?
A: Yes, 100%. We are not owned by, affiliated with or in any way
connected to any of the "big" labels. However, if a big company wishes
to license the album we will welcome their offers.
