hello there!
+++++++++++++++++++
This past weekend, saw a most excellent start to December, with both
Like A Stuntman and Marcia Blaine School for Girls in London for shows.
Friday night was Like A Stuntman playing at the Silver Rocket club,
supporting Rainer Maria, and saturday was two of the Marcia lads DJing
at Werk, or at least I had thought it was going to be a DJ set, but
instead we were welcomed to a very rare treat - a performance by The
Village Unit, a live ragga breakcore mashup project between
Dave/Production Unit and Ruardih/Village Orchestra. Absolute genius set!

Release News
+++++++++++++++
Both The Village Orchestra album and the Fuck-off Machete single should
now be in all friendly neighbourhood record stores across the UK, plus
large shipments out to France, Germany and Japan. If you come across any
stores who don't carry our releases, you could do us an immense favor by
asking them to order copies - if they know people are looking for them,
they'll order them for sure. Tell em to get them from Cargo UK!
Machete had a Radio One session last week on Vic Galloway's show, which
i believe you can still listen to if you search around the BBC's site,
and they've been getting some great radio play, between Vics show and
Huw Stevens . The reviews have also been going really well..
"Glasgow's Fuck-off Machete are on to a winner here - a grimy, bittersweet
tune, like a furious remake of Kinickie's 'In Your Car' for an angrier
generation. The latter stages of this single are insanely gripping -
Natasha Noramly's seductive vocals collapsing into wonderful wails."
8/10 Rocksound.
"The trio's demonstrating of deft pop sensibilities, retained from the
their recommended live shows, runs throughout these three tracks of
otherwise acerbic angst-rock. Without it, Fuck-Off Machete would be as
appealing a prospect as being butchered by just that; with compositional
intelligence on their side, and the sexiness necessary to tempt indie
lurkers out from bedroom to show, the Scots could become a real buzz
band of the forthcoming wintry months." Drowned In Sound

The Village Orchestra, not to be outdone, has been getting airplay over
on the Breezeblock show, and on XFM's Flo-Motion, recieved the CD of
the month accolade in De-bug magazine, has an interview with them in
next months issue, and an interview in an upcoming issue of Undercover
magazine. You can also now get the Village Orchestra CD from Warpmart
and from the iTunes store.
"one of the most impressive debut albums of the year." The Milk Factory
"Equally Phillip Glass and Carl Craig" Stylus Magazine
"One of the albums of the year" 9/10 Undercover Magazine
"ravishing collection of symphonic splendour - sonic sculpting of the
first rank." Textura.org
The randomNumber full-length "Golden Acre Sleeps" finally turned up
this morning, after some troubles with Customs, and a fair bit of
palm-greasing! Its looking and sounding ace, and was well worth the
wait! It should be available up on Posteverything, Smallfish and
Norman records, hopefully by the end of the week, in time to make
it into you christmas stocking!
