funkstorung is playing gugenheim. i don't know about brooklyn. flavorpill is one of my clients and they handle the line-up for the gugenheim first fridays, so while i'm not involved in that aspect of the company, i can assure you funkstorung will be there, as will i. it's a fun event, all in and around ny should try to make it out. .s chthonic wrote:

they're doing a laptop set at the gugenheim. what i'm more curious about is if they're doing the same set at both locations or not, but i don't know how to find that out. would be nice to know as if they have two sets preppe'd it would encourage me to try to make both. nat hawks wrote:

i haven't seen/heard them that recently so i can't comment. as for the russia! exhibit, it was already going for the last gugenheim first friday... while i wasn't blown away by the exhibit, what i can say is that the acoustics there are amazing and the combination of drinking, dancing and looking at art with people that you know but would likely never go to a museum with all to a live soundtrack is well worth the experience. i had a great time at the last one and highly recommend it. lines are very long though - you might want to get there on the early side. nat hawks wrote:

i saw funkstorung in san francisco last wednesday. based on the flyers for these NYC events it seems the show is going to be the same, they used some elements of their visualizations in the flyer. the show was quite dancy. it was like chopped up rave/electro as opposed to chopped up hiphop/beats. as i'm a pretty mellow person in general i prefer the latter, but i have to say i shook my ass for a while at the show. i will also say that the coordination between the music and visuals was quite nice. they had some sort of note repeat linked to a knob such that they turned the knob and the note repeated which was also linked to the visuals, so you'd get a choppy effect in both the music and visualization at the same time. this may be quite easy or quite hard to do, i really have no idea, but it resulted in a nice performance. all in all my verdict is they're worth seeing. -snf On Wed, 30 Nov 2005, nat hawks wrote:
