There'd been a thread on this list in late September about ordering online,
in which I voiced my approval of ordering cd's from the US of A, as opposed
to spending extortionate prices for similar cd's from local retaillers, and
I shared with the list the details of my latest purchases as an example of
the benefits of buying from a US retailler.
Amazon market traders Kiefer Entertainment were one of the most
competitively priced for the Planet Mu releases I was after. Of the 4 cd's
I ordered back in September, only one has thus far arrived.
Assurances have been given that they will dispatch the order again once the
titles are restocked sometime this week. On reading the buyers feedback on
Amazon, it appears that other customers have experienced similar long
delays or failed delivery of goods in the past. This was my second time
purchasing from these guys, and the first time that I've ever had an order,
from any U.S. mail order outlet, not show.
I guess the only lesson to be learned from any of this is not to part with
your money to anybody who has a less than 100% positive buyers feedback or
a reputation that equals such, and to make allowances for the fact that
sometimes packages do, inevitably, get lost in transit (you do gotta give
them the benefit of the doubt some of the time).
I know that in the future I may shop that little bit closer to home
(UK/Europe), or simply choose to download the album as an mp3
(legitimately, natch).
