Likewise. I'm stil quite like Beaucoup Fish too, in a pop-techno sort of way. The Radio 1 show is definitely worth a listen though - a fair bit of rather interesting music. David -- "And then what do they do?" "Er, quadratic equations mostly, sir. Fiendishly difficult ones by all accounts." i never really heard them until i saw them live at field day in 2003. they had the system pumping, even in the miserable rain. i only have "second toughest in the infants" myself, the other stuff crossed a line for me, can't put my finger on it. but that one has some great, bass-heavy, hypnotic workouts. d. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Ive been a fan of Underworld since they were Freur back in the 80's. Theyve come along way and can create some wonderful art. The big challenge to UW is to stay true to their roots of originality. Both members have families and the $$ was decent from their last albums. If they can continue to challenge themselves, UW has enormous potential (and intellect) to engage the audience... otherwise the labels "win." Ive always dug them for trying. They did have "Underneath the Radar" which was just horrible. Thank God for re-births! :-) --- chthonic streams <chthonic@chthonicstreams.com> wrote:

Hehe While those around me listened to Jesse's Got A Girl... I was in the basement diggin Psych furs, a 12" from an obscure primitive procussion band called the Thompson Twins. Freur's Doot Doot was just one of the many weird/cool songs on that Freur album. Yeah... nice stuff! --- chthonic <chthonic@chthonicstreams.com> wrote:

"in the name of love" was played in WKTU, a black disco/r&b station. they had no idea they were 7 mostly white english people with crazy hair until they did a promo interview at the station one day!

The best record was the "Set", which was never released domestically in the US nor ever made it to CD. I ripped it from the vinyl. :-) The American version was pretty poorly mixed and track selections were changed. I knew about the Twins because I followed everything Thomas Dolby did and he was involved. Can't recall, but John Leckie may have had a hand in there as well (crack producer from back in that day). The rhythm section on "Set" was also legendary. Some of them went on to form the short lived Wide Boy Awake ("Chcken Outlaw").

Members of Freur built their own synths. They were into it. That's still a great record, IMO. I bought it before it got play - I'm close to 50 and I have always bought blind. Plus I worked the counter at a record store as a 2nd job and used to be the import orderer. I had LOTS of exposure from the order lists and I always read the UK music rags faithfully. I recall waiting for the P. Furs to get a contract and do a record for months after reading raves about their gigs. Those were great days for music - Bookies Club 870 in Detroit!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

WOW! I had no idea that Freur retained so much currency. It took me months to track down that album after falling in love with dubnobass (and to it, incidentally). When I got it, I would have been disappointed had I been able to stop laughing. "Doot-Doot" is to Dubnobass as "With Sympathy" is to "Land of Rape and Honey" or "Twitch" in the Ministry backcatalogue. I just can't take it seriously... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Wow - my wife and I consider dubno to be instrumental (pun intended) to our romantic liaison as well. jeff --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
