Hello there, So much great news this month, I don't know if it will all fit in one email! We've got new releases, lots of shows, announcements, free downloads, funny cartoon links (not work safe!) and erm, more! Release News::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Bovaflux . Where There Was Nothing [hpll013] album is now up and available at several places - you can buy from Smallfish, Norman records, our online store at posteverything.com, and also now available as downloads from emusic.com and the itunes stores. Its been delivered to our UK distributor, and should be in most UK stores by the time you get the next newsletter. Some wonderful feedback on the release so far ... "Just listen as Bovaflux's laptop rocks into the future. Hauntingly Beautiful" 4/5 Touch Magazine. "..immersive sounds that marry compositional intricacy with sparkling elegance. Remarkably poised for a first full-length release." Textura.org "a beautiful collection of music.. an excellent example of how to do electronic music right. For fans of Seefeel, etc." somewherecold.com :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: The Village Orchestra . Et In Arcadia Ego [hpll014] Ruaridh Law, one third of The Marcia Blaine School For Girls, presents his debut solo album, wonderfully diverse and everything you would expect from this scottish musical phenom! Its been with the pressing plant for a week now, and I expect it back by next Saturday, so more news on this soon. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: RandomNumber . Golden Acre Sleeps [hpll015] Mastered and now finishing up artwork, we expect to have this sent off for pressing within the next few weeks and scheduled for a November release date. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Izu and Fisk Industries. Both albums being sent off this weekend to Twerk for mastering, expect more news soon.. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Fuck-Off Machete - If Silver Was Gold and Gold Was Silver [hpll016] And.. our big news! - we're over the moon to be announcing another exceptionally special project - very good friends of ours from Glasgow - Fuck-Off Machete. Formed by bassist Natasha Noramaly after the demise of her previous band Ganger at the end of the ninties ( Ganger also featured Craig B who went on to form Aereogramme), Fuck-Off Machete are a three piece experimental noise-pop band who absolutely tear it up live with their warped time signatures, pulverising hooks and breathy vocals. Their debut album appeared on Lost Dog Recordings in January of 2004, which they have followed with a year of regular gigging. The Machetes, Natasha, Callum and Paul, are fresh from a stint in Chem19, recording their latest single, which is scheduled for release on monday the 7th November, to be followed by a full length in early 2006. The single will feature three tracks - 'If Silver Was Gold and Gold Was Silver', 'Copper And Lead Fight', and a reworked version of 'Fall In Trust' plus a quicktime movie of the video for 'Copper And Lead Fight'. They'll be doing a bunch of live shows around the release date for the record. Check back here for updates on shows and/or look at their website at: http://fuck-offmachete.com Live Shows:::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: 3rd September / Bovaflux This weekend sees the Foundry in London host a three day mini-festival, by the very fine lads of Rehabilitation, celebrating five years of most excellent events, and featuring a whos who of almost everyone who has played there before. Loads of highlights from Cursor Miner, Rediffusion, Mothboy, The Doubtful Guest, and Saturday evening sees our own Bovaflux bring the noise. Well recommended and free event. More details of each day are available at http://www.foundry.tv/ 4th September / The Mandelbrot Set If you still have the energy on Sunday, head along to the Bull And Gate in Kentish Town to catch The Mandelbrot Set who are on top form, fresh from their recording sessions at Southern (which you will be hearing the fruits from very soon!). 25th September / Fuck-Off Machete Fuck-Off Machete will be out in the Netherlands playing at the ZXZW festival in Tilburg on the 25th of September, and I believe also have a show in Birmingham towards the end of the month. Check the Machete's own site or highpointlowlife.com for more details, which I will post, once confirmed. 28th September / Not Clickable For the past couple of years since arriving in London, we've been hosting occasional live events under the banner of Not Clickable. Past shows have featured live performances by the likes of Jason Forest/Donna Summer, Leafcutter John, Cursor Miner, Timeblind, Rashamon, and um, I don't remember them all! Well, anyhoo, we're now taking the evening monthly . It's going to be the last Wednesday of every month at the Legion on Old Street, with the first one coming up on the 28th of September. Its going to be a stormer, the line-up is absolutely stunning and its also going to be our informal Bovaflux album release party. Check out the site and download your plugin from: http://last.fm Two amazingly good ideas/sites have come together. Last.FM has been around for a few years now and has been a personalized online radio, based upon your own musical preferences. Audioscrobbler I have only discovered in the past few months, and it's a plug in for whichever media player you use, which will report your listening habits to a central database, where you can go an analyse all your charts and playlists and favs. Combining the two means you now have the plugin report to Last.fm so that your radio preferences now include all your offline listening. This may all sound confusing, and the only was to really see what I.m talking about it to go have a Look for yourself. You can find my page at: http://www.last.fm/user/sideb0ard/ I've created a new Highpoint Lowlife group on there, so if you do sign-up for an account (free), join our group so we can end up with a group chart . And, to close up our news letter this month, some absolutely amazing web comics. Seriously, these are the funniest things I have come across in ages! First one up is called House Of Cosbys, which I discovered via Boing Boing. Watch the first four episodes at: http://www.channel101.com/shows/show.php?show_id=121 and next one is called Princess (thanks to Mat/Fisk Industries for pointing me to this one): http://www.ebaumsworld.com/flash/princess.html No explantion needed, go check em out! till next month! cheers, Thorsten p.s. free music downloads.
