...you'll be surprised at the general lack of knowledge there in terms of the world of electronic music. A similar pehnomenon exists on the Orb list. What a lot of these listers haven't heard was a bit of a shock to me, as well as the general closed-mindedness and pretensions about how they think things 'should be' in terms of what music others make...ironic when one considers the likes of both The Orb and KLF. There some amusing antics afoot on the Orb list when Thrash (ex-Orb) trolls under various pseudonyms before the admin catches him. Kris Weston has a wicked sense of humor. jeff

yeah, i've been on the orb list since about '96 / '97 and I couldn't agree with you more. it's a shame really. i'll always love the orb, but i'm not going to defend their post-orblivion tripe. hopefully things will look up for them now that they are releaseing on kompakt and not island (which they've had alot of problems with anyway). but i never see them releasing another orbvs calliber album ever again. their komfort ep sounds was good, but didn't even stand out from the rest of the kompakt cataglouge enough to get my really grooving on it. se la vie, xenlab www.xnlb.com On 6/20/05, therealmxyzptlk@comcast.net <therealmxyzptlk@comcast.net> wrote:

Hmm . I used to buy everything KLF I could find. I given all my 'valuable' records to a friend to keep. But I have several KLF mixes by a Brass Band .. and a few other very abstract things .. haven't seen them for about seven years. Anything you can tell me about . Martin' ? I still carry a copy of the White Room in my box, and when the party get really weird I like to play 'Make it Rain' "pump pump . a little harder .. " The White Room was really my first DJ tool. I went to a party at 14, took over the stereo with my 5 cassette tapes that I had brought along . and KLF was the hit .. along with some 80's super mix tape .. There's not much to report really, Jimmy and Bill have a load of stuff that has never been released, not really my place to talk about it, but it's all very, very KLF - IMHO it hasn't aged well in some places but I've always loved the stuff they did. Haven't heard from Jimmy in a while, he was doing paintings last time I heard from him. Before that he had a project called BlackSmoke. I don't think any of the stuff will ever get released tho... One of the questions was if anyone has heard this as yet. I understand it doesnt sound much like the original (I wasn't a big fan of the original to be honest) but is it any good? The press sheet talks it up quite a bit with words like "greatly anticipated" and the like, but seriously - is this a series worth collecting? For my money, yes. If Villalobos is on the knobs, I'm buying. If you're looking for more straight-up KLF, you may think otherwise. That wasn't his best work, but all in all, I still consider what he does 'buy on spot'. Certain artists need to show me a pattern of blowouts before I lose faith and RV has enough material which does it for me to cover a few 'sins'. Particulary in this genre, I tend not to pay nearly as much attention to the CD releases (and full length LPs) as I do the 12"s.
