taken from: www.markant-records.com! If you`re into electronic music nowadays, you can hardly escape certain typological references. Markant-music has always been different, though. While the early nineties experimental Warp breakbeats may have been influential, Markant still and formost is the story of Carsten Endraß, his deep love for music, devotion to romanticism, hiding in abstraction, the electrifying intensity of a summernight thunder and lighting in a collapsing metrum. Since 1997, the 33-year old from Rosenheim has produced almost 30 strictly limited 12`inches and 2 album CD releases in his own creative sound-universe, before bussiness problems silenced him three years ago. “After I sold my complete studio equipment plus record collection in 2002, I spent the following years without any contact to electronic sounds. But finally my love for music and an evergrowing inner unrest led me back to my roots, even in the meantime music had been my steady companion, though I went through different stylistic directions.” This steady extension of esthetic rules is main theme of “Feedback”, the 3rd album by Carsten Endraß, with 10 brand-new tracks , an impressive milestone of the Markant style in 2005. Apart from romantic drum rolls like “Dancing with wolves” or “Join the club” this time also sound ornaments from Latin Jazz and Dub “In my heart” , arctic cabinet of musical clocks “Trick of senses” or productions tracing to Craig Armstrong racing orchestral string band illusions “Outlaw” & ” Highnoon”play an important part. In the consequence of a three years break, I could reset my own style completely. In this way the tracks of the new album are certainly the most uninfluenced ones I have ever made, because I freeded myself from all attitudes of expectations. But just with this getting loose, CE establishes with “Feedback”, his, pardon my playing upon words, most typical masterpiece. -- Geschenkt: 3 Monate GMX ProMail gratis + 3 Ausgaben stern gratis ++ Jetzt anmelden & testen ++ http://www.gmx.net/de/go/promail ++ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Very good news. Gratifying to see the return of an artist who made consistently interesting music from the mid-90s to the early-00s, albeit with apparently very little return in terms of critical accolades etc. The reference to Carsten Endraß's withdrawal from music in 2002 reminded me that last year I'd been disappointed to read of another respected German electronica artist, Arovane, doing something similar. I still can't quite believe that Uwe Zahn won't be producing any more music. Does anyone happen to know if he's still in 'pensioned off' mode or if there's any hope of a Second Coming. alan --On 10 June 2005 10:01 +0200 berag@gmx.de wrote:
