Event: [KONTROL] presents Bruchstuecke Records (Zurich, Switzerland) Style: LIVE PA, minimal techno and avant-house Location: Rx Gallery / 132 Eddy St, San Francisco / 415.474.7973 Date: Saturday, June 18 Info: 9pm – 2am, 21+, $10 Website: http://www.KONTROLsf.com/ Contact: info@KONTROLsf.com Artists: Galoppierende Zuversicht LIVE (Bruchstuecke artists Bang Goes + Styro2000) DJ Fragment (Markus Unterfinger, Bruchstuecke label-owner) Bang Goes (DJ set) Styro2000 (DJ set) plus [KONTROL] residents: Sammy D (Classic, Dirty Bird), Alland Byallo (Nightlight Music, Comfort Sessions) Brian Walls (AC Stylus, Econspiracy) In a nutshell: Coming to SF hot off of a Saturday night headlining slot at Montreal's MUTEK Festival, KONTROL is proud to kick off our new monthly party with the exhilarating duo from Zurich that has minimal god Ricardo Villalobos calling them the best live techno act in the world right now. Galoppierende Zuversicht (which means "Galloping Confidence" in Swiss) use no laptops in their in their performances, opting instead for spontaneity, collaboration, and self-made gear. Don't miss this special chance to witness them in action, joined by Bruchstuecke label-owner DJ Fragment, in their first ever West Coast performance. http://www.KONTROLsf.com/ http://www.bruchstuecke.com/ ---------- Music links: Gallopierende Zuversicht – Pro-Shuto http://www.bruchstuecke.com/mp3/b34_pro-shuto.mp3 Bang Goes - Dreipunkter http://www.bruchstuecke.com/mp3/a5_Dreipunkter.mp3 (featured on "Fabric 15 - Mixed by Tyrant") Styro2000 – Pelati http://www.bruchstuecke.com/mp3/a9_Tiefsee.mp3 (featured on "Swayzak – Groovetechnology v1.3") ---------- That's the basics…but if you're interested, read on. From the MUTEK website: http://www.mutek.ca/2005/event.php?lang=en&event_id=43 (On their Saturday night Metropolis event): "This year, for the ongoing event night that MUTEK stages at Metropolis, artists known for delivering vibrant performances will be in control. Traditionally a prized evening for festivalgoers, this occasion will allow the audience to discover Gallopierende Zuversicht. Renowned for their rare yet highly memorable live performances, this Swiss group will be making their North American debut." (On Galoppierende Zuversicht): "The Galoppierende Zuversicht project was established, for all intents and purposes, as a strong stage performance. Consequently, no computers and Styro (Marcel Ackerknecht) and Bang Goes' (Roland Widmer) stubborn disposition regarding recording in the studio are a direct result of their goal of achieving the "livest" conditions possible for their sound. With their exhilarating performance, these celebrated producers from Zurich send a message to the detractors of an electronic genre described principally as static. Galoppierende Zuversicht employs only sequencers and other homemade instruments in their performances, which for three years now has excited audiences at numerous European festivals. Now it's your turn to feel the effects of this performance and 'Gallop Confidently' with them." A personal email from Marcel Ackerknecht, aka Styro2000: "We (Galoppierende Zuversicht) would play live, that would look a bit like the photos attached; they were taken during an open air last summer. Our thing is to not use laptops, we perform our music in a way of improvisation and conversation between our machines (some of them are selfmade) and the audience. its sort of exciting, communicating with the people, and letting things happen. The style is more a bit of minimal-tricky techno, good suitable for the late hour. Our latest record, the Basta EP, was also produced at this way, and is now licensed for the next Richie Hawtin MixCompilation, coming out soon. Mathew Dear seemed to like it (he wrote a nice email), and Miss Kittin can also act as point of reference." From music journalist Philip Sherburne's weblog in April: "I know it sounds like I'm shilling for my friends up north, but that's not the case — I just love 'em to minimalistic bits. And so I can't resist passing on the news that both Luciano and Ricardo Villalobos have been added to this year's [Mutek] lineup. They play together as Sense Club on Saturday, June 4 — right before Bruchstuecke's Galoppierende Zuversicht, who Villalobos singled out as the highlight of a recent 50-hour fest in Switzerland" From "The Bunker" website, NYC: Bruchstuecke is a very weird outsider minimal techno label from Switzerland. We have been huge fans of pretty much every release, starting with the first one in 1999. These guys show very little interest in following trends and have been blazing their own path from the start. Luckily for us, some of the Bruchstuecke posse is on the continent to do a gig at Mutek in Montreal and were very keen to come down to NYC to play with us. DJ Fragment is Markus Unterfinger, who runs the label. We've never heard him DJ, but have total faith in anyone with good enough taste to put out so many amazing records. Galoppierende Zuversicht…is the live project of Bruchstuecke artists Styro2000 and Bang Goes. Their live set incorporates self built samplers and hardware instead of laptops. They recently released their debut 12" on Bruchstuecke. Ricardo Villalobos is calling them the best live techno act in the world right now ... do you really need to know more than that?"
