totally understandable....like i said i debating going with the sponsor....
the reason for becoming a member on my site (which is free) is partly so i can get a rough idea as to what kind of traffic I'm getting for any particular project such as this...(and so far it's actually much busier than i thought it would be....)...but also to make new contacts, build a community of like-minded musicians and music-lovers...
and btw, what email did you send to to get a "mailbox no longer exists,"? I'm not aware of this....i've very recently redesigned my website and switched servers so i'm still fixing some bugs....

Subject: Re: [idm] Fastus Peace Pipe / Dorje Remix Contest
As apologies have been offered and clarifications made, I feel I should
probably offer my own apology for my earlier, rather truculent response
to the original Dorje remix posting. Anyone reading my post would think
that there wasn't an opportunity to submit a remix without paying an
admission fee.
I checked out the Sonic bids page - immediately got hit with a remix
'combo package' ad, then went to the artist page - tried to download
remix materials, but got a 'membership' needed messagebox, and then as I
read further saw a continuing gauntlet of solicitation that I wanted to
avoid and so did not see the 'no purchase necessary' note - rather like
kind of 'Publisher's Clearinghouse scheme - you're going to face a lot
of ugly 'hard sell' going on before you finally get to the disclaimer, a
situation made necessary by the Faustian bargain Dorje struck with a
sponsor to further this project.
Also, when my reply to Dorje bounced as undeliverable because the
"mailbox no longer exists," my worst suspicions that this was just a
drive-by spamming seemed confirmed.
Most anybody not born yesterday has probably witnessed a great number of
scams perpetrated by the most unscrupulous part of the music industry,
who cynically exploit the hopes and dreams of gullible aspiring
musicians. We've all seen it: ' here's the opportunity to bring your
music to the next level', if you believe in your band you'll fork over
the cash so you'll music will be heard (recall all those promotional
schemes on the original mp3.com ...)
The remix posting and the web sites seemed like just more of the same.
But because Dorje bothered to check back with the list, apologized, and
tried to set things straight, I feel in retrospect that my post was
inaccurate and not really fair. So I apologize both to Dorje and the list.
Now, back to the music...
