Just got back from the show at Metro in Chicago and I really hate to say it but I was underwhelmed. Just like everybody else here, I've loved Ae since age 15 and have every album, blah, blah insert fanboy stuff. I liked the "live programming" angle but the beats were pretty uninspired. It sounded like dumping clinky sounds into Fruity Loops in real-time and then pressing a big button that said "granulize" every few seconds or so. The best part was this kick drum Sean and Rob pulled out that was so earth-shattering that my nuts felt like they were going to explode. The mezzanine at the Metro was creaking to the beat like the fucker was going to collapse. Then again, I got busted for bootlegging and had to give up my Handycam disc to the bouncer and Ticketmaster gouged me $11.36 more than the $20 window price so maybe it's just sour grapes on my part. I left drunk and pouty---if anyone stayed till' the end, did the beats get any better? Then again, any of you could say "fuck dude, it was the best thing ever after you left" and I wouldn't know any different :) That's the last time I'll travel, spend cab money, and go through Ticketmaster for some boring laptop show--though Rob Hall spun some great acid. P.S. If anyone managed a bootleg, it would be really nice if you could help me out considering my sour experience! Sometimes I don't get the IDM guys who've gotten rich and famous. Like what the fuck are you gonna do with an Ae bootleg? Whose going to buy it? It's just for all of us IDM nerds to listen to at home anyway. Okay, I'm done being a baby __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! i dont know folks, but me being a big complainer of all things autechre lately have to say that the NYC show, was f**ing unbelievable , it was an incredible experience.. the sound was killer and everyone in the place went nuts, literally nuts... i guess these guys are so random, that you have to be lucky when it all comes together smoothly and it did in ny that night for once, by the end of the show though they started breaking up somewhat into blobs :), but the beginning and middle was..... WOW!!!! they played stuff that wasn't on the new album only small fragments, it was all spontaneous and live...and all you could see that nite on stage with them was two hands and fingers which ill never forget illuminated by little lights, those fingers, spooky :-) SND's performance sucked in the beginning and was so lame that i didnt bother paying attention to the rest, Rob hall was fabulous thru and thru. all in all a great nite... oh and if anyone has a recording please please let me know, ill pay. :) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

PS how the hell did they pull it off with an mpc1000 and two elektron drum machines will haunt me for a while...no laptops in sight. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

So far I'm hearing the tour is very hit and miss. I hear the NYC show was awesome, and the Montreal show too. But the Boston one was pretty much how you described. I was prepared for a non-existant live show, but the music itself wasn't as cool as what they do on CD for sure. -Clint ................ www.synnack.com On Mon, May 16, 2005 at 11:59:16AM -0700, John Counts wrote:

I heard exactly the opposite appraisal from someone who was at the Manchester show last month; what they've done on CD in recent years has left him decidedly cool, but he reported the live set to have been pretty damn good. Perhaps the live show appeals more to those who adhere to AE 'Version 1' ( --->1995) rather than 'Version 2' (1996-->). alan ---------------------- Alan Lockett (Senior Language Co-ordinator - EFL) Language Centre, University of Bristol, 30-32 Tyndall's Park Road, Bristol, BS8 1PY, UK tel: +44 (0)117 3310914 e-mail: Alan.R.Lockett@bristol.ac.uk --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I didn't go this time around because I was underwhelmed the last time I saw them perform at the Metro with Rob Hall and Russell Haswell. Does anyone have a positive review of the latest Chicago show? -Mike --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
