Virtual Music, Virtual People, Real Talent

Pioneering electronic music project 'Time Slips By' is redefining what
it means to be a musician, and performer, with the new concert series
held in the matrix. The performance is real, generated at TSB
headquarters in Zion, but everything else is virtual. The artists will
be jacked in to the matrix, performing for the audience, which will
consist of blue pills (sleeping humans), programs (AI lifeforms), and
jacked in red pills (Awoken humans).
Ed Colmar, [Callsign: Crate] one half of the duo, appreciates the matrix
for it's malleability, "Performing in the matrix frees us from
conventional boundaries, and makes nearly anything possible." Regularly,
dramatic light shows are created by the attendees, skilled in hacking
and conforming the matrix to their wishes. However, parents should
beware. Just as regularly as the light shows, it seems, fist and
gunfights break out. "Yeah there are fights when TSB plays" Says Max
Hansen manager of Club PolyVinyl "but it's nothing more than what
happens every day here. It's a violent society. People die."
The music and performance itself is a tangled mishmash of lush ambient
pads, and broken chopped up beats, with dashes of silence and gaps for
punctuation. Defying any particular style, the group strives for unique
progressions that evolve, coalesce, and break apart. "We deal damage,
but we can keep it mellow also" says Joshua [Callsign: September].
The primary form of distribution for Time Slips by's music is over the
networks, so they naturally moved towards network based performances.
This location-free approach accounts for the increasing popularity and
anticipation of their shows.
