Hey all, new free mini-album uploaded last night.. If Marshall Watson's "The Time Was Later Than He Expected" was the sound of summer blossoming, this free mini album is the perfect glacial contrast: slow shimmering melodies hover beneath the frost of drone-based textures and the wind bringing the distant sound of a lone kick drum. Marshall Watson - 100 Smooth Trombones [hpweb010] Released 1st March 2005 01 Joins Rambles 02 Buried 03 The Switch Says Go 04 There Aren't Enough Of Us 05 The Edge Of The Front Popup release page at: http://www.highpointlowlife.com/downloads.shtml under the web exclusives. The zip link at archive.org is being a bit flakey, i think the server is rather busy, however I have the individual files downloable from my own server. Worth persevering with the zip tho, its quicker download speed when you get it and you get them all in one download. thanks! thor -----------------------------------------------------------------------| Highpoint Lowlife Records http://www.highpointlowlife.com/ bitmapped indie-electronic goodness since '01 ------------------------| -----------------------------------------------------------------------| --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Anybody have any good/bad/indifferent feedback on the 'Midsummer Nice Dream' album by Ochre on Toytronic? Reviews suggest it's on a Gimmik meets BoC kind of tip, albeit well done, but does it have a flavour of its own? cheers, alan ---------------------- Alan Lockett, (Senior Language Co-ordinator, EFL), Language Centre, University of Bristol, 30-32 Tyndall's Park Road, Bristol BS8 1PY, UK Alan.R.Lockett@bristol.ac.uk tel: +44 (0)117 3310914 fax +44 (0)117 3310870 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Ochre's work is very well constructed - real 'musician's' attention to melodic detail - more detailed than BOCs. A mix of electronica and solid/intricate idm beats.... very easy to listen to - engaging - structured/thought out arrangements..... You can hear some examples of the album here : http://www.toytronic.com/flash_site/toy19player.htm Here at Audiobulb we are releasing an Ochre track on our 'Intricate Maximals' compilation (Release date:14.03.2005) - the track entitled 'shiverbox' is a darker less co-herent side of ochre's work - displaying a more fragmented arrangement and sound set :) He is a great artist... check him out. I, too, recently discovered the Ochre album and love it lots! I must add that here in South Africa it's currently winter and wet mistry days seem to go well with this music, even though it has a summery name (if not theme). As for being poorly received, I checked Discogs, and out of 19 votes, they rated an average of 4.7/5... which is pretty hard to beat. Yes ::: recommended.
