I know none of this is new, but as I don't have much time these days to post much "content", before I go back to burying myself in books, I'd like to drop in a line about some of the A.i. vinyl which has been dropping. The new Yunx album is superb, as are the Jacen Solo (Forbidden Medicine) and Normal (World Fuels)12"s. I know someone mentioned the Normal some time ago; I often buy vinyl and it sits until the I get the odd chance to play it - lately it's when I'm going to make a cdr from it for on-the-way-to-work drive time play. All 3 of these records are lush, golden era IDM sounds. The hype on the Jacen Solo mentions A.R.T. styled electronics, and that's not a bad way to put it at all. I wasn't as thrilled with the new Yellotone CD (Tar File Junction) as I have been with the FZV, Claro Intellecto or Station and New Town comps, but all in all the label is putting out some fine material which shouldn't be passed over. If you do vinyl, try the new Yunx for a taste - if you're confined to CD, grab the FZV or Claro Intellecto. Not sure how easy the Normal 12" will be to find as it's not exactly new, but the Yunx and Jacen Solo should still be easy grabs. Yeah I second the recomendation of A.I records, that "New Town" comp is superb, as well as what I have of Claro Intellecto. None of it is really anything new, but it's kind of nice in that way, a sort of new take on old sounds or something. The Yunx album is great. Speaking of AI, anyone know where to get more SWF, there is one really great track on that comp, but I don't think they have released anything else from that artist. --- theREALmxyzptlk <theREALmxyzptlk@comcast.net> wrote:
