Yeah, but off-topic conversations have (OT) or (ot) or (Off-topic) added to the subject line by those who insist on perpetuating them, if they're somewhat responsible posters. You keep bringing this subject back onlist, with no identifier as to its off-topic nature, and you repost private, offlist responses into the list: a definite netiquette no-no. http://www.gweep.ca/~edmonds/usenet/ml-etiquette.html "You should also not repost private email to the list unless you have obtained prior consent from the author. Such reposting is at best considered extremely rude, and in some legal jurisdictions may be a violation of copyright, or other rights of the original author." You're a troll.

I haven't knowingly brought a "private" conversation to the list. I explained to another author (Ian, I believe) that my mail client is set up in a way that I have to manually change the To: in order to post to the IDM list (and since I see the [idm] header in the Subject line I naturally assume it is a post to the entire list). One time I have erroneously e-mailed a private response to the list. However, I don't think I've done it with any responses other than the one to Ian. Secondly, etiquette is nice and all but really, screw etiquette.
quoted 1 line You're a troll.> You're a troll.
Umm, no. You're trolling just as much as I am. I simply *responded* to your, and other people's, replies. Nothing more. I'm willing to drop this, and have. It's pointless, but I wasn't going to just let people such as yourself make false claims (which I thoroughly repudiated) about the Mac and/or iTunes Music Store. Likewise if you, or others (but mostly you, seek) were making false statements about anything else, I'd call you on it. Just like you made some stupid comment about Bush being wired recently. And I pointed out that he was wearing hearing protection (it was the one with him in the woods carrying wood, and, you know what, it was off-topic, too). You're not innocent with the off-topic posts, Seek. Not by a long shot. I've been very mature with my replies and kept the flaming to a minimum. I have tried to reply with facts to counter and bolster my argument. How you can construe this as trolling is beyond me. -- Mr. Tangent [the binary police] www.mrtangent.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yeah, its gotta be said. Seek, you routinely generate more tiresome noise on this list than everyone else put together. We all know by now that you are really good at using google and posting pithy one line, one URL responses to anything and everything. Lecturing John on netiquette though? Seriously, that's more hilarious than anything you've ever posted to the list. That was a joke, right? -Aaron ----- Original Message ----- From: John/Slackonomics <slack@slackonomics.com>

I am not mad at anyone (least of all Seek), and enjoyed everyone's contributions. I apologize for wasting anyone's time or bandwidth. :) It's all good. No animosity here. To get this back on topic, has anyone seen Otto Von Shirach opening for Skinny Puppy on the their tour recently? I got to meet Otto twice (once in Denver and once in Kansas City) and he's one cool guy. I'll try posting some pictures on my website of his performance soon. Skinny Puppy were mindblowing, too. I highly recommend the show. -- Mr. Tangent [the binary police] www.mrtangent.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i totally agree with shimone and aaron on this one. the last person on this list that should say anything about over-posting or just plain ranting on senseless topics is seek. there should be a limit to posts to this list. and that limit would be far less than what seek posts when we wakes up at around 10am. :) -kiya ----- Original Message ----- From: StaticBeats <stupidnametaken@yahoo.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Thursday, November 04, 2004 10:56 AM Subject: Re: [idm] Re: (ot) winning at trolling (OT) (Off-topic)
