Hey there, Couple of last minute shows have come together this week in London... Hope you can make it out for one or both! Oh, and check the bottom of the email for the chance to vote in what we think might be the strangest category of award ever! TUESDAY 26TH OCTOBER, 2004 Multi-Vitamins @ ThePool Bar Fisk Industries will be playing live alongside Dick Tally Whalcker (TurboJazz), and Katzu with DJs Doudou Malicious, Professor Bacteria (TurboJazz), and Juan Koff from 8pm to 1am (Free entrance) Fisk Industries on from 9pm till 9:30pm. Address: 104 - 108 curtain road, london, Ec2a 3ah Tube : Old street (Exit 2) / Liverpool street THURSDAY 28th OCTOBER, 2004 Smallfish Records Instore Show. Recon and Fisk Industries live show. Smallfish say: "Recon aka Motion will be performing live from 8.00pm and may possibly (although we're not 100% sure) be joined by a labelmate from the superb Highpoint Lowlife imprint. Anyone not familiar with Recon or Motion should be aware that musically we're looking at a stunning mixture of deep electronic soundscapes mixed with tightly edited glitch / techno / electronic rhythms and sounds. Recon's album for Highpoint Lowlife distilled the best of these underground sounds and added a dubby abstract feel to amazing effect. Reference points could easily be Chain Reaction, Raster Noton, 12k and other such labels, so it's no surprise to discover that as Motion he has released two albums for Taylor Deupree's 12k label, tracks for Fatcat's split series and a split release with Matmos. We're talking quality, atmospheric music. Make sure you bring a beer and friend or two to enjoy some fabulous sounds." 8pm - 9:30pm, Smallfish Records. 329 Old Street EC1V 91E. Nearest Tube: Old Street, Liverpool St, Shoreditch. QUARTZ ELECTRONIC MUSIC AWARDS // http://www.qwartz.org "International space geared toward the expression and promotion of independent labels and artists." Help us go to Paris for a vacation! A friend forwarded me a link to these electronic music awards several months back, and we entered a few of our release from this year thinking "what the hey?! you never know..." Now, we didn't get nominated for new discovery, nor best album. Not best album cover, nor packaging, but we did, however, get nominated for Best Title. Now personally, i don't think track titles have too much artistic credibility. Its nice to have funny or smart track titles, but in themselves, i dont feel it adds to or detracts from the music itself. Having said that tho, we'd still love the opportunity to go for a visit and meet a bunch o' cool people! So go vote for Marshall Watson's "Early On, Later Off" at: http://www.qwartz.org/vote/ Only thing is that the site is in french, and you have to register, but because all the instructions are in french and its not exactly the most intuitive site, I couldnt work out how to vote myself! cheers, thorsten --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
