HIGHPOINT LOWLIFE NEWS OCTOBER 2004
--------------------------------------
Had to happen, had to return to the day job, *sigh*!
Still, it was a wonderful summer while it lasted, and now
with this tidy corporate funding, it let's us get a move on
with all these tasty new projects!!
RELEASE NEWS......
Everything has been going along nicely with our last
release, Marshall Watson's "Time Was Later Than He Expected"
picking up some ace reviews from the likes of:
"Melodic and crunchy are two great sounds that go great
together and Marshall Watson is another in a long line of
IDM artists who mix and match playful (and sometimes even
quite thoughtful) sounds with the brittle snap and static
smack of programmed beats."
http://www.almostcool.org/
"While some in experimental electronic music successfully
complete emotional melodies and tones, others put on
technical displays of percussive landscape. Watson manages
to get the two to coexist in harmony"
http://www.modsquare.com/
"top-notch release, which leaves me wondering how long it
might be before the name Marshall Watson is as well known
in electronic music circles as the name Ulrich Schnauss."
http://www.textura.org/
"a journey packed with bass-heavy entities of melody,
harmonious layering and thoughtful summertime electronic
listening...."

Coming out now in the next month or so, finally we will
have the Rashamon 7" entitled "Tomorrow People", a limited
run of 300 7"s, followed closely by a 7" by our new signing
Like A Stuntman, a re-press of some of their early tracks
in preparation for next years full length album. They'll be
a nice change in sound for the label, wearing our indie-rock
influences on our sleeves, loud and proud! Imagine Lou Barlow
singing with Urusei Yatsura, with a drum machine and synths
thrown into the mix!
The Marcia Blaine School For Girls compilation of Scottish
electronica is complete, now in the hands of Twerk who is
mastering it and adding his own magic touch. The artists
will be Izu, Daigoro, Tersh Jetterax, Production Unit,
Accrual , The Village Orchestra, Feld, Marcia Blaine School
For Girls, Rose And Sandy, Chris Dooks, and will feature
three quicktime movies by Somniscope, Accrual vs. The
Village Orchestra, and The Village Orchestra vs Skhoinarion.
Coming up over the next months we'll be working on full
lengths from The Village Orchestra, Fisk Industries, Bovaflux,
Like A Stuntman, and projects from Feld and sAnso Xtro.
