I went to a Sonic Youth show recently, and Wolf Eyes opened for them. They're industrial/dark ambient. I was trying to get into their music, but it wasn't doing anything for me. At one point I started to feel terrible, like I needed to throw up and my head was spinning. I felt so bad I had to sit down, and the only thing I can attribute it to is the music. As soon as the song was over I felt better. This thread just reminded me of it...the end :) ak In a message dated 10/3/2004 12:51:14 PM Pacific Standard Time, chthonic@chthonicstreams.com writes: Subject: Re: [idm] records too creepy to fall asleep with ------------------------------------------------------------------------

i don't think this is so much a disagreement as an exception. you were 8. of course you're going to be scared by stuff as a kid. i'm talking about adults. grown men and women saying this song or that band is so dark or so scary - i just don't get it. d.

That's great. Wolf eyes did the same thing to me at the 2003 demf/movement festival. Since my friends were rocking out over by the speakers I thought it was just me. Maybe its intentional that they try to create nausea in the listener. That still doesn't explain my friends rocking out though. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Sounds like Ultra low frequency sound waves, they'll shake your insides up so bad your liver and insides explode, if exposed to them for long enough and loud enough. Throbbing Gristle were into them, I think. So was Tesla, and suppossedly that HARPP project up in the boonies of Alaska is related to those experiments. I have this "Close to Absolute Zero" comp cd that the last track you can't really hear, but when you look at the meters on the mixer, it's peaking like crazy! Speaking of which, anyone heard any idm with binaural beats, which are suppossed to induce alpha or theta brain waves? --- Blake Mikesell <djfuckstick@tmail.com> wrote:

The 'official' version: http://www.haarp.alaska.edu/ HAARP is a scientific endeavor aimed at studying the properties and behavior of the ionosphere, with particular emphasis on being able to understand and use it to enhance communications and surveillance systems for both civilian and defense purposes. Scientific instruments installed at the HAARP Observatory will be useful for a variety of continuing research efforts which do not involve the use of the IRI but are strictly passive. Among these studies include ionospheric characterization using satellite beacons, telescopic observation of the fine structure in the aurora, and documentation of long-term variations in the ozone layer. The rabbit hole: http://pages.zdnet.com/sartre65/gulag/id3.html "As cited in this text, conclusion about HAARP capability: manipulate global weather; hurt ecosystems; knock out electronic communications; or change our moods and mental states." The Twilight Zone: http://www.crystalinks.com/haarp.html "Related research by Begich and Manning uncovered bizarre schemes. For example, US Air Force documents revealed that a system had been developed for manipulating and disrupting human mental processes through pulsed radio-frequency radiation (the stuff of HAARP) over large geographical areas. The most telling material about this technology came from writings of Zbigniew Brzezinski (former National Security Adviser to US President Carter) and J. F. MacDonald (science adviser to US President Johnson and a Professor of Geophysics at UCLA), as they wrote about use of power-beaming transmitters for geophysical and environmental warfare.
