there's another reason, related to this: spam. it's increased tenfold in the past few years. there's now a lot of server-level filters and domain name blocks going on. a list i was on for 5 years gave up mostly because so many emails were being bounced by other providers. if an ISP sees that your domain is sending 700 emails or more a day, it's going to think you're spamming. often it's impossible to contact or reason with the people in charge of the blocking (such as AOL). yahoo groups gets by because they're yahoo. but i'm amazed hyperreal's lists are still alive at all. bravo for holding the fort. d. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Really? I have no problem with hyperreal messages ending up in my inbox at gmail. Maybe it's because of the filters I have setup? I'm not sure... nick idm on-topic portion: what's the names of some good icelandic idm? there's just something about the "icelandic aesthetic" (don't ask me to explain what i mean by that) that i love. of course there's the biggies: mum, sigur ros, etc. i know of worm is green and love their debut album. any other suggestions? people should try to get ahold of the sigur ros remix album "von brigdi" ("recycle bin" ). if you thought sigur ros were boring and you like IDM/electronica, this is for you. "Recycle Bin puts songs from the group's debut LP in the hands of Gus Gus, Biogen, and an assorted cast of unfamiliars." ignore the rest of the review - it's mostly dead-on, with only a few pedestrian d'n'b workouts. apparently the "unfamiliars" are all icelandic electronic artists, so the remixes might interest you in the artists' original work. http://www.mmguide.musicmatch.com/album/album.cgi?ALBUMID=756121 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Einoma, for sure -- though the earlier _undir feilnotum_ grabs me more than _milli tonverka_ , they are both very good, and very icelandic. -- Eric Sorenson - EXPLOSIVE Networking - http://explosive.net --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Einóma fans should also check out Traject's "Strengir Hrynja" - One of the best IDM discs of 2004 so far. Somewhat similar to Einóma's first album (although more sinister) and quite "icelandic", whatever it means. -- Jarmo Niinisalo, http://www.bastwood.com/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
