Agreed, Trevor's stuff is amazing and disturbing. I wish there were some wallpaper sized downloads of some of the magazine covers he's done (www.babyart.org).
As far as the cashiers- the original release on Sublight (I'm assuming this one is the same) has the front cover flipped around so the real front cover art is hidden. The music isn't really his top stuff. It's like Aaron Funk doing his best Richard Devine impression. Definitely along the same lines as Huge Chrome Cylinder Box and Winter Belly Snake, both of which are better than Horse and Goat.
Anybody catch his (VSnares) live webcast this past weekend? Hardcore. From the Sonic Acts Festival in Amsterdam. Breakcore madness on Friday night with VS, Bong Ra and Sickboy. Speedy J finished it out on Saturday night with a 3 1/2 hour set which spanned his ambient stuff (his Fax cds), his idm stuff, his industrial stuff (Shocking Hobby) and his slammin' techno stuff (Loudboxer and recent 12"s). All days had a lot of great ambient / soundscapey / field recording type stuff too.
Whoever runs www.fabchannel.com obviously are total pros because the entire event over the three days had a video feed as well. Too bad the audio feed was mono, but I can't exactly complain, can I? There are lots of archived shows up at that site, too. Nuthin' much idm/electronic. The Dimmu Borgir concert there is nice. Hopefully they put up the three days of this past weekend.
Ah, Trevor Brown. His cover art is always amazing, but I always feel
the need for a shower after looking at it. And nothing is more fun
than taking one of those things to a cashier and buying it. Let's hear
it for disturbing art.
