Do I think he's nervous? No, I think he'll make another dvd to get reviewed on ishkur.com full of showboating and acting like his beatmatching ability is supreme among all men. I also think his album sales will increase and the future of electronic music will be pushed back another 3 years. The olympics are about pushing the boundries of human fitness (more or less), why would the music at the opening ceremonies (aside from the whole trumpet fanfare thing) be the same tired shit from years ago? It should be something that pushes the limits of electronic music. I'd rather watch janet flashing her tits than this opening ceremony voyage into trance remix. -blake --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Good for him, why not ... I think it must appeal to the masses ( in a good way ); and if everyone in the stadium move and wiggle a bit, that's fine ! if it make people leave the place and rush to buy trance CDs, fine by me again ... hopefully, he will play Traffic ... because Athens will be full of traffic jams these next few days ... :-) I don't think that tiesto is that bad, his live @ gelredome is one of the best trance mix I have, and I think it was a success. anyone would be happy to play there ... big events like that are not meant to push the boundaries, just to entertained. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

You have a valid point.. I just hate trance and think its a brown stain on the underwear of music. I also find that when I tell people I play techno music they automaticly think of said trance music and then think it sucks. Then I play it for them and they say "this isn't techno, this is good!" Heh. But if we're getting technical.. it isn't techno on either grounds. I just hate to see more trance in any case. But by all means.. Enjoy your trance, just keep that minute and a half breakdown far away from me. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I was kind of surprised to hear all the trance while watching the show Friday night. I thought that it might be Tiesto spinning live, but it actually just sounded like it could have been any of his mix cds. Nothing in the set was new as far as I could tell. Still, glad to hear he was actually there live. Too bad NBC here in the U.S. kept commentating on top of Bjork's performance. The CBC coverage here in Canada showed several shots of Tiesto, and he was spinning records. Despite the fact that I don't really dig what he does, I thought it was pretty cool to see a DJ playing at such a huge event.

The CBC commentators were good enough to stay quiet during her song, and the camera stayed on her for most of it. I assume it was something from the upcoming album as it didn't sound familiar. Not a bad track, but it would've been cooler if Matmos had been there as well. :) Greg :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Greg Clow ::: greg@stainedproductions.com ::::::::: concert & event promotions ::: http://www.stainedproductions.com :::::: electronic music radio & reviews ::: http://www.feedbackmonitor.com ::: electronic/experimental record label ::: http://www.pieheadrecords.com ::::::::: 158 Close Ave. 2nd Floor ::: Toronto, Ontario M6K 2V5 ::: Canada --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yep, it was 'Oceania' from her upcoming album, Medùlla (in stores soon-ish, methinks). Apparently, it's written from the perspective of the ocean watching the games on land. According to her website, she was requested to write the song for the olympics a while ago and included it in her album, but the news was kept secret until the morning of the Olympic opening ceremonies. I'm such a fountain of facts today! Perhaps I shouldn't drink so much Peruvian coffee in one sitting. Luis On Saturday, August 14, 2004, at 03:27 PM, Greg Clow wrote:
