We've been hard at work this summer to bring you some new
releases as well as some neat aural little treats for you to chew
on....there is
lots to report so lets jump right in...
[[[[[[[[ new n5 releases ]]]]]]]]
_____ Out today _____
Keef Baker : The Widnes Years CD
On his debut release with n5MD, The Widnes Years, Keef Baker blurs the
edges of electronic corruption until all that is left are a few polished
melodies that ever so subtly disperse themselves above a palette of sonic
manipulations. The revealing sonic implosions are all internal and
self-created. Reflecting the feelings of pretty objects being crushed out
of malice, an aggressive scope of work is complimented by melodic remnants
during the uplifting points on the album. Shying away from current 'IDM'
trends where process surpasses the tune, The Widnes Years has a lot more to
do with friction than it does with fluidity. Gritty beats, rippling
effects, and the particles of dust scattered above each melody collide into
each other as if they were part of one entity, floating into a unified
apocalyptic frenzy.

Damiak : Pesero 7"
For the 6th installment of the 7ransparen7 series n5MD brings you the debut
release from Bay Area beat-smith Damiak. This single which is named after
the dilapidated mass-transit system in Mexico City from which Damiak
originates. "Pesero" much like it's namesake sounds as if it's breaking
down only to be restarted over and over by it's agitated emotionally
drained driver. A stunning debut that will whet your appetite for Damiak's
full-length due out later this year.
If you want see and hear what Damiak is all about we'd like to recommend
checking out the video's for each track off this new 7":

_____ plus out next month _____
Spark : Super Robot Battle Deluxe CD [09.14.04]
A (live) performance-based approach was utilized to capture the raw spirit
of obliterated electronics on Spark's latest Super Robot Battle Deluxe. But
it doesn't stop there --this Vancouver, Canada native doesn't simply rely
on clicking and automation; his focus is more on manual control and
improvisation. As a result, a collage of decomposed (old school)
acid-breaks and broken electronics seemingly reflect the attitude of the
Robotic Girl. It's the battle between these robots, if you will, that
ignites the inner ear with a mesh of odd digital patterns and distorted
parameters. What's left is a chilling fabric of disjointed, yet amusing
electronic music. Not forgetting the range of emotions buried within
Spark's sound, it comes as no surprise that preconceived notions would be
shattered on this album.

en : peg digital
we've been working on the sidelines on a new label website, and digital
distribution idea named en : peg digital. It will feature sales of downloads
@ only $2.00 for each release. With a bulk of the money going directly to
the artist. Upon opening the doors we'll have releases from AEM, Headphone
Science and Spark, among many others. Keep your eyes to the n5MD news page
for launch details of this new venture.
v/a : Konstrukt compilation
Not only is Damiak a Mafia hit man but is also part of the Konstrukt
collective here in SF. Damiak has lent his fine jitter to a comp from the
Konstrukt collective entitled "Ions." The comp is a fine collab of local
artists doing their brand of classic IDM and experimental grooves. It can
be purchased directly from the Konstrukt website and is worth the price of
admission for the Damiak and comfort food (which Damiak is one half of)
tracks alone.
