SOVIET CINEMA: Battleship Potemkin (USSR, Sergei Eisenstein, 1925, B&W,
16mm, silent with live score, 77 min.) A cinematic classic considered by
many to be among the most influential films of all time. Eisenstein's
powerful use of imagery is clearly demonstrated in the famous "Odessa steps"
sequence. Based on historical events. Unbearable conditions on a Russian
ship incite revolutionary fervor among sailors and citizens in the harbor
town of Odessa. Live score performed by sound artist and composer Edward
Bobb. Presented with the Miami International Film Festival.
