A new scene for Tuesdays... Pianos presents: A new bi-weekly featuring live electronic musician Irwin with guest electronic acts and visuals. Every other Tuesday, beginning May 4th. Irwin is known for melding the spontaneity of jazz, the power of rock, and a pulse like hip hop on steroids, though rarely sounding retro. He has worked with a rare mix of artists such as John Cale, The Beastie Boys, and Deepak Chopra. His performances have merited four return tours to Europe and praise from the most critical music and art aficionados. All beats are performed live; other sounds are generated from modules or computer and composed on the spot. Berkoy creates visual environments through live-manipulation of original footage, invoking unique sensory experiences in response to the music. Challenger (Robert Galligan + Steve Cossu) is a duo hailing from Brooklyn, NY, which uses samplers, synths, drum machines, guitars, and vocals to craft a sound describable as electronic noise pop. Pianos 158 Ludlow at Stanton (Lower East Side) 9 pm., $8 www.pianosnyc.com www.irwinmusic.com www.challenger.ms www.berkoy.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
