cool. I feel much the same way -- for instance, I like a lot of Greg
Davis's stuff, which is electronic with an acoustic guitar. It's done
really well, though, so I don't feel like "oh man, there's a guitar."
one of the things I've grown to appreciate about idm is that it really
pushes the whole sonic quality of the sounds used. Sometimes, the sound
of a real instrument is just what's needed. Same with vocals.
I do think one of the things about vocals and real instruments is that
since other examples of those sounds are readily available, people pay
more attention to them. For instance, we can all understand lyrics and
get their overall meaning, which means that unless the vocals are nonsense
or really well written, it's going to cheese out the rest of the song.
