Primus & Claypool has always seemed pretty arbitrary and anooying. The worst admixture of mirthless faux-Zappa wierdness, empty nattering virtuosity, and a nerdy sort of Rawk excess. Squarepusher is another beast entirely. I want to hear him make an album with Billy Cobham, Benny Maupin, Joe Zawinul and Airto Moreira. I thought about this a couple of years ago - Billy Cobham's too fusioney nowadays, Maupin's last outing was very disappointing (Driving While Black), Zawinul's world thing doesn't float my boat like his 70s stuff and I don't know what Moreira's up to nowadays. My dream band for Squarepusher would be Marque Gilmore on drums (or Marc Erbetta from Erik Truffaz's group), Chris Bowden on saxes (preferably through effects like the track he did on Palmskin Productions' Remilixir), Rob Mazurek on trumpet and maybe Raoul Bjorkenheim on guitars. Production would be by Deathprod of Supersilent fame. Did you see Oysterhead? I'm not sure if that's the best idea. Les is a lot better when he was a bit reigned in - then again, I saw them pretty sober.
