I guess I'll stand naked in front of a crowd and say I may be the only person I know who just can't get with the Puppy. I saw them on the MPI tour in 86 with Severed Heads and thought they were just silly. When they started flinging the dead animals around the stage, I went to the back of the room to find Severed Heads' Tom Ellard and have a chat. I've tried, really. never saw puppy live, but back in the late 80s/early 90s when I was listening to them, I thought ogre was the shit. now I really wish that key would just keep releasing tunes and forget about the silly vocals. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

You've heard stuff by Download? Doesn't really sound much like SP to be honest, but it's cEvin Key's thing and it's non-vocal. Unfortunately it's been a few years since they had an album, so I don't know if they're still active or what. Hmm and now that I check out allmusic.com, looks like he & Ken Marshall released an album last year. http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=Atxfxlfkeacqe -- Tim Moore --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Didn't used to be. Furnace was all over the place, but seemed like a more logical progression from the skinny puppy stuff. Eyes of stanley pain had vocals all over it, and was pretty good. III wasnt' so hot, despite some on this list saying it's quite good and very idm-ish (if I want IDM, i'll listen to actual IDM). I don't really like skinny puppy at all, but eyes of stanley pain was pretty good. -- eggytoast.com : eggtastic.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I used to love SP, but I was sorry to hear they were reuniting and thought their song on that movie soundtrack was awful. Regardless of what their music sounds like, I could see myself getting behind them if they came out with a strong, angry, political message relevant to our times. No Clear Channel sponsored events or anything like that, either. I have a weird feeling they are going to disappoint me, though. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! ... lol what a funny expression. at first I thought you were talking about being a performance artist, standing naked in front of a crowd, literally. Then I realized that you were using a metaphor.

They did something with sound and rhythm that I can't quite explain. It's probably got something to do with a Korg MS-20, and some high quality marijuana. Ha ha. I saw them twice and loved them. I think people either love or hate them. And that's ok with me. Anyway, you might like an album called "The Infidel" by Doubting Thomas. That's pretty much (and literally) Skinny Puppy without the Vocals. A little more ambient. Download: I saw download too. When they launched into their version of "Dig It" I almost... wow. I'm one of the "III" people... I loved it, thought it was amazing. And cEvin's solo albums are the shit. A few of the tracks on "The Ghost of Each Room" are pretty IDM, IMO. Listen to "Sklang" ... I guess that my post was unclear. I'm pretty sure I've owned or own every puppy and puppy related release ;) solo key/download material are excellent stuffs, imo really different than a lot of puppy material.

Woo Hoo!! Gotta love the Clear Channel bashing! I work for Clear Channel and Skinny Puppy has been my favorite band for years. Not that CC would have anything to do with SP. I have, however worked in tracks from Kid606, Front Line Assembly, and Dj Shadow into the Jim Rome Show. Maybe I'll grab one of the new SP songs if it makes for a good bump. Rock on. Brian. p.s. Why wouldn't they have anything to do with SP? Between all of the venues they own, all the tickets they sell, and all of the radio stations they own, that employ guys looking for exciting bumper music, it would take a concious effort for a band with as big of a cult following as SP has to avoid Clear Channel. That said, I wouldn't hold any of those things against SP as a band unless they had a CC sponsored tour, which definitely ain't gonna happen. :) __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I'll take the royalty payments if there are any musicians out there who want to refuse their mechanicals. ***

Yeah i'll say locally Clearchannel is doing more fringe shows lately and its pretty disturbing. Fantomas, Melt Bananana, and End (on hymen - idm content!) are playing here next week and its a clearchannel show. Which sucks because its an amazing bill but i don't know if i care to support it. - cutups --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
