well, you've hit upon a few different things there. 1. because rock is so popular, it gets a lot of radio airplay and more widespread popularity than other forms of music. this isn't any more the fault of the bands than it's the fault of electronic bands that they don't get more airplay or better distribution. 2. the biggest bands and songs are inevitably overplayed. this results in massive fatigue in people with questioning minds. no matter how much you love something, it's hard to stand up to a thousand listens. 3. it's even worse if a lot of those plays occurred during a certain period in your life (eg, teen years, college days, breakup w/significant other, wartime). many times people move on from bands or even entire genres of music becuase of wanting to distance themselves from such associations. d. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
