Hello to all. I am trying to find a website that constantly airs different genres of electronic music, similar to digitallyimported.com. But i'm looking for drum n bass, and other less popular genres. Anyone have any suggestions? thanks. -chris. Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - More reliable, more storage, less spam

is there any machines or soft samplers that will allow you to control and automate sample start/end points of a sample in real time maybe, thru a MIDI controller? i am talking about tracker like precision (but no trackers). i know ben was recently mentioning something similar he does with the joystick in Max/MSP but i was thinking more along the lines of what i am more comfortable in using at the moment, NI stuff preferrably (ie Kontakt, Intact, Battery ..whatever those names are) or some newer hardware sampler you guys have and know it can do this, can you pls mention it my last hardware sampler i still own is a Roland S-760 and i'm happy with it, hence i didn't bother with any newer ones, but i think it's about time, if this specific need of mine is met again, to rephrase (features looking for): - being able to move start/end points of a loop in real time (atomate them or control them via a MIDI controller) - also playback modes (forward/reverse etc) to be switched as the sample is playing would be neat there's something called a Wave Traveller in Fruity loops that lets you draw the direction/pitch of playback in it, it's similar to that Wave Scrubber in Max/MSP or the Sound Forge Pitch Bend-er, but all of these are so toy-like, the edit windows are always dinkin' small, they don't snap to grid and simply irritating to work with. The technology is there, there's GOT to be something that does a better job of this out there. please! THANK YOU in advance! b --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

You could build something to do this in NI Reaktor I suspect. I've not had the time to dig that far into Reaktor, but it's extreme adaptability would seem to make it ideal for what you suggest. Not much help, but might be worth downloading the demo version to see if it's too much for your head. _muff._ on 20.03.2004 22.20 the person going by the name besart at subfield_harmonics@yahoo.ca spake :

i did a bit of poking around with the warez, it is something like that yes, or at least that's one of the approaches, yes all of them NI Vokator, Kontakt, Battery, Intact, and some sample machines in Reaktor all do allow for control of sample start point and direction of playback through a granulizer orsomething like that i guess i was looking for that exact behavior that you'd get out of a tracker, and yeah, it was just one of the approaches, but it worked here: used NI Vokator Fruity Loops sending CC to it, mapped out to control the sample start and speed of playback (both forwards and backwards) http://members.shaw.ca/khysniu/the_cutting_knife.avi cheers b -----Original Message----- From: Muffin [mailto:muffin@signmytits.com] Sent: Sunday, March 21, 2004 7:25 AM To: IDM Subject: Re: [idm] sampler little question You could build something to do this in NI Reaktor I suspect. I know it works like a sampler or tracker does for Kontakt -- I just set it up and tried it. You can use an LFO or external midi source or envelope to modulate a loop's end point, total length, as well as loop end point. It takes a little effort to set it up, but it's not that hard to use. It's outlined in the manual, page 80-something. derek -- eggytoast.com -- eggtastic.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Oh and here's a fun ensemble I did: http://www.psychiatry.uiowa.edu/~kent/echoey.ens Which is a whole bunch of multitap delays swept by random sources, with a simple synth feeding it. It ends up sounding like a reverb, only it's simulating a room whose shape and volume are constantly changing. Hours of fun. On Sun, 21 Mar 2004, EggyToast wrote:
