Highpoint Lowlife Releases
##############################
[hpll::007] Recon : White Label
Our latest full length CD release - a new
project by London based Chris Coode. Over the years Chris has released a
substantial body of work under the name of Motion, from a split EP with
Matmos on Fat Cat records, then a self released album entitled 'Pictures',
he was soon discovered by Taylor Deupree's 12k label, releasing 'Dust' in
2001 to good acclaim, and now follows with a second album on 12k called
'Every Action' which is out this month. With Chris' Recon project, he
retains his subtle and immediate control of the music, his trademark
balance of controlled noise and texture, but allows through a whole other
dirtier and nasty detail to the sound, akin to a broken techno feel of
machines in mid-crisis.
Our first review came through from Smallfish records who say:
"Highpoint Lowlife is a label with seemingly no boundaries. A good thing
when they're releasing music of this calibre. Firmly rooted in the Chain
Reaction / Berlin style of things this has a low-key, dubby feel with some
deliciously abstracted chords and sounds layered over off-beat rhythm
structures. At times it's a mutant 4/4 sound and at others it has a
flowing, freeform feel. Held together beautifully by the haunting dark
synth tones that have been manipulated with skill and panache."
Its available immediately in our online sonomu shop at:
http://sonomu.net/org/~highpointlowlife/shop/ or you can email me back if
you want to pay via paypal. If you do Paypal its more flexible, and we
offer buy 2, get one release free sorta thing.
Should be hitting most stores in around two months, after press and
getting to the distributors etc.
[hpw::002] Fisk Industries - The Way We Found Each Other
[hpw::003] Marshall Watson - I Could Tell You Everything
Two delicious free web releases for you to grab from the download page at:
http://www.highpointlowlife.com/downloads.shtml
Fisk Industries following up on his debut EP, and Marshall Watson
providing a sneak preview of what is to come with his full length due in
the summer time. We also hear whispers of a collaboration going on between
the two likely lads! More details as they come..
8bitrecs News + Releases
##########################
Well, sad to report, not the best of times for 8bitrecs.com. We got in
some pretty serious bother over hosting the Grey Album as part of our
protest against EMI for Grey Tuesday www.greytuesday.org
So serious that my ISP shut the site down, tho now back up in a sorta
broken state - no streams and i dont have access to the database for
adding new content. We won't be able to pay the bandwidth costs that it
accrues, so with some serious thought, we've decided to put the 8bitrecs
website on hiatus for the time being, and just focus on Highpoint Lowlife
records, where we should still have a decent amount of free
legal downloads available for people. We should hopefully find a new
permanent home for it in the next few months.
During the past month there have been quite a few new additions to the
site:
Hot Roddy, part of Brighton's SPirit Of Gravity collection showcasing his
many and varied styles.

Jorge Cortes comes from Santiago de Chile, and has uploaded two of his
projects here - Receptor and Cancer.

http://www.8bitrecs.com/cgi/artinfo.cgi?artist=Cancer
And last but not least, a stunningly insane piece by another Brighton
local, Shitmat donating an exclusive out take track from his latest album,
Killababylonkutz...
http://www.8bitrecs.com/cgi/artinfo.cgi?artist=Shitmat
I plan on taking the site down after the weekend at some point.
Oh, and if you have any work for a layabout sysadmin, a fairly competent
perl scripter, an ethusiastic illustrator, or an excellent timewaster,
lemme know!

Coming out over the next few months, we have a 10" EP from Brighton's
Rashamon, Marshall Watson's full length, and our special edition for our
tenth release will be a double disc compilation of Scottish Electronica
compiled by The Marcia Blaine School For Girls. Very excited over all
these projects!
Ok, cheers!

p.s If you want off this list, just reply. Apologies if you have already -
i removed your name from the database, but this email list may be a few
weeks old as i now no longer have access to the database.
