What was your feeling concerning the festivities this year?
I went to the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin for this year's New Year's Eve
celebrations, and there were police roadblocks everywhere. No had seemed to
have fun, it was like clean-cut family entertainment under the scrutiny of
political powers.
Is it like this in the US now? Andrew says you have "free speech zones" -
they only let people protest in certain zones now, well away from the press
etc. Is this a pisstake?

oh fucking hell yeah it's totally fucking absurd.
they got gave the government the power to check into
our previous loans and finical records w/o a court order
or any suspected cause. you can be put under house arrest
for being suspected of terrorism. there's lots of weird stories
about his too. there's a salesman named Al Queda in New Jersey
who's not allowed to fly due to his name etc. My friend Omar is
ethnically Palestinian and was detained in an internment camp with
middle eastern refugees even though he's second generation
american citizen. shit's fucking nuts here. I know folks that
protested the FTAA in Miami w/ no problems and folks that
were blocked from being able to use the rest room by swat teams
not to mention folks that ended up lobbing garbage cans at riot police.
