Kolar Goi: Kolar Goi CD (BS060CD)
Gaute Barlindhaug from Tromso in the far north of Norway used to call himself
Aedena Cycle, but due to legal reasons, he had to change his name. Enter the
debut album from Kolar Goi!
Since the last Aedena Cycle album, Gaute have been producer and live knob
twiddler for Norwegian pop-electronica band Bel Canto, plus live cooperations
with Anneli Drecker of Bel Canto and jazz trombone player Oystein Blix.
Oystein Blix is also contributing on the album, in addition to guest musicians
on guitar, vibes, bass and drums.
Musically, the album is an evolution from the last Aedena Cycle album, with
the familiar leftfield "arctic" electronica style, including Gautes
characteristic syncopated rhythm structures and jazzy elements. With
references to both Biosphere and English underground electronika like Plaid
and Boards of Canada.
The two tracks from the 2001 12" are also featured on the album in new
versions.
