i know i'm a little bit behind the power curve on this one, but i just want to comment on what a delightful album this is. i've been a big fan since sidonie, and have enjoyed most all of his ouput, especially the zealelectronic eggplant, but i think this is his best yet. the threads of piano, guitar, live drums and vox throughout give this thing a heartbeat that is missing from a lot of the laptop schlock coming out these days. even the vocals (not great, but good) give new emotional meaning to a couple of old standby tracks. (i wonder if the lyrics were written later to further document the original song feeling, or originally?) i find "blinded by beats" to be just that, blinding. the extended bongtoke adlib double triplet jam, take your time, is a journey too. all in all great stuff, and i hope he sticks with this slightly refined direction. respect, Jeff Davis fon: 216.266.6969 phlow@earthlink.net fax: 216.266.2360 cel: 216.533.6303

yeah, this is a great album. I plan to include 'pass by' and 'grunt' in some of my dj sets. Those who bought to 2cd set (as opposed to the 12"+7"+cd set) might have missed out on one of the album's nuances - that the two last songs on the cd - 'le desir' and 'sleep' - don't really fit with the rest of the album. It seems, to me, that Welcome Tourist is meant to be experienced as three separate works - the lp (1st nine tracks) has its own distinct sound, the 7" has a somewhat different sound (what with the vocals & all) and the 'take your time' cd has its own sort of identity. 'take your time' was, imho, a little self-indulgent - the song structure seems kind of lazy and takes way too long to become interesting. If it were me, I would have just left it off the album, but hey - i'm not bernard fleishmann, am I? -wil m. --- Jeff Davis <pHlow@earthlink.net> wrote:

Minor nitpick: it's actually "Guided By Beats". :) -- Kurt Bernhard Pruenner --- Haendelstrasse 17 --- 4020 Linz --- Austria .......It might be written "Mindfuck", but it's spelt "L-A-I-N"....... np: Jah Wobble & The Invaders Of The Heart - Banks Of The Sweet Primrose (English Roots Music) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
