hi all...i'm doing some research and i need your collective minds=] Could anyone post me the names of the most influencial tracks that utilize the famous winstons AMEN break? ideally i`d like to find out the 1st track to sample it, i know Eric B & Rakim + NWA (Straight out of Compton) made use of it. Does anyone know any earlier? A copious list of the the AMEN classics would be super helpful, any help massively appreciated! thanks all jason ________________________________________________________________________ BT Yahoo! Just thought I might throw this in the pot. It seems like a nice on topic shameless promotion moment: http://pilchard.org/amen/ This tune uses nothing but the amen break, processed in several different ways to create all the sounds. Have fun :) Cheers Lee Stacey a.k.a. I looked at the reckan.... site and couldn't find anything. Heh, I remember how excited I was the first time I got a nice clean 'Amen' sample, cut it up and started sequencing it. Now, I still hear tracks with Amen in it I like (Amen Andrews, anyone?), but I feel a sort of physical revulsion when I contemplate trying to use it. Find new breaks? That's for losers. I *thought* there was a website dedicated to all things amen, but i can't seem to find it now. It wasn't all that comprehensive if i remember, but it would be a start. I think if you're still looking for resources, check out http://www.dogsonacid.com Its probably the most popular drum and bass board, and thats the genre most known for using the amen. Although i wouldn't use it as a definitive source. There are so many trax that use it that its hard to really say what the most significant ones would be. - cutups ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kent williams" <kent@avalon.net> To: "Peter Becker" <pbecker3@nyc.rr.com> Cc: "IDM list" <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Tuesday, December 16, 2003 11:22 AM Subject: Re: [idm] amen break question
