Err... Well, while we're all talking about Best-Of-2003 things, I think that if we were going to talk about Best Label for 2003, Rephlex would have to get some SERIOUS consideration. Just about everything they've put out this year (that I've heard anyway) has been top notch. The Amen Andrews series was incredible. Victor Gama's Pangeia Instrumentos, although not electronic (and therefore not IDM?) is astounding, and shows just how open these folks are to good music, regardless of genre/format. The reissues and other-people's-label samplers were also nice. That Stakker and Humanoid stuff is awesome. And I still haven't even heard The Bug, although most of what I've read about it has been positive (and the AFX mix of the one track is great, and I would assume at least a little bit representative of the original). Oh yeah, and even though I haven't had a chance to get all the way through it yet, the Radiophonic Workshop 4x10" is a gorgeous document that was obviously lovingly crafted. That's just what I have to say. I'd love to hear what other people have to think, be it yea, nay, or otherwise. i used to own several AT rephlex (i think they were rephlex) 12" from the early 90s but they have mysteriously disappeared from my collection over the years. Most of them ended up compiled on the Caustic Window compilation but a few of them are still at large. I can't remember what they were called. I have two clues for you though: 1. One of them might have been called " " Window (not caustic or polygon) 2. A friend once heard it and recognized one of the songs to be a cover of what she called "the popcorn song". Help!. Also, are these still available anywhere, compiled or otherwise? Yeah, seriously. Anyway, the cover was on Joyrex J4 and the Caustic Window bootleg comp that came out in 97. It (along with "R2 D2") was not on the official Caustic Window comp. I heard Autechre's going to release an album made entirely with Max/MSP soon and Kid606 is going to move out of his mom's house. -- :: atomly :: [ atomly@atomly.com : www.atomly.com ... I just heard from Gonzi about this guy Tom Jenkinson who's been releasing some wicked stuff on Worm Interface. Apparently he's going to be doing an album for Rephlex and it will be like NOTHING YOU HAVE EVER HEARD BEFORE. Believe the hype, kids. Quoting atomly <atomly@atomly.com>:

Oh god. Does this mean we'll get to hear about someone schooling Autechre with their mediocre debut? And then how they're better live?
