the central record store and figure in Cologne Germany?s thriving techno
scene, and growing into one of the most revered and essential labels and
distributors in all electronic music, KOMPAKT has become one of the most
prolific names in said world, as well as the classic model entity, not only
in German techno, but in electronic music, period. This night, we are
honored to have as our guests performing direct from Germany?

Constantly pushing and redefining the boundaries of techno through his
varied, textured output, Reinhard Voigt has characterized the expansive yet
minimal sound of Cologne and been a main contributor to the notoriety of the
Kompakt label. The sheer intensity and power of his Live PA brings to light
raw emotion seldom seen in music. An exclusive Chicago appearance, this
performance has been the subject of jawdropped crowds at major festivals the
world over (Popkomm, Mutek, Mayday, etc). Experience for yourself what will

Originally from the town of Offenburg, south-west Germany, Michael Mayer
moved to Cologne with his long time friend, (fellow dj and future Kompakt
affiliate) Tobias Thomas in the early nineties when he was a house
enthusiast citing DJ Pierre as an influence. A buyer at Voigt?s Delirium
Records, Michael shifted gears in what was to become an unending pursuit of
next. Along with longtime compatriot Voigt, the two brought to the forefront
the fierce, spacious, mind-bending sound that has defined Kompakt. A world
class DJ and Producer (he?s rocked audiences at Mutek, Sonar, and
Bencassim), this night he performs an exclusive three hour set, his first
ever in Chicago. Prepare for this funk filled unleashing of the Kompakt
sound on the windy city.
KATE SIMKO (DETALLES) - LIVE

Originally from Chicago, Kate Simko spent time in the electronic hotbed of
Santiago, Chile (which has called itself home to the likes of Miss Dinky,
Uwe Schmidt aka Atom Heart/Senor Coconut, and Ricardo Villalobos). There she
worked with Andres Bucci under the Detalles moniker, releasing their record
"Shapes of Summer" on the Kompakt distributed TRAUM Records from Germany, as
well as releasing material on Chicago's own ANTENNA INC. Recently returning
to Chicago, Kate will be performing both Detalles and new material live, her
sound characterized by glitchy beats with warm Rhodes chords to compliment.

Celebrated universally, Kompakt has been tagged by a seemingly endless list
of names: the likes of Aphex Twin, Autechre, Richie Hawtin, Matthew Herbert,
Sven Vath, the Postal Service, and even Neil Tennant have all expressed high
praise for the versatile Kompakt sound. Sometimes stark, big, and intense,
sometimes pop-ish and experimental, its this tendency towards the unexpected
