GYS: ART D'ECHO OUT OCTOBER 21st, 2003 One would be truly hard-pressed to simplify the ambient tech sounds evolved into Todd Gys' debut full length, Art D' Echo. Much in the vein of the renowned Chain Reaction and Basic Channel output, Gys' music doesn't merely wallow in its electronic surroundings, but plummets the depths to uncover the spatially hypnotic potential that experimental electronics offer. Rather than having each track work as a singular unit, Gys forms a 70-minute plus monolith built from the foundations of analogue dub, digital house and Eno-ish dreamscapes. The resultant piece is his first full-length CD, featuring remixes from Phil Western (Download, Plateau, Off&Gone), Substance (Chain Reaction, Scion, Tresor) and Twine (Ghostly Int'l, Hefty, Bip Hop).
