I went to the Minna show last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The DJ was oustanding and really carried the evening for me. Between everyone else's live sets he played a great selection of drill-n-bass tunes. Personally I think Minna is a great venue; it's spacious, has two bars, two macs to surf the web, clean bathrooms and great artwork. The location is easy to reach by bus and freeway, is located in a safe neighborhood and has plenty of parking nearby (although it should be noted that I got a freekin $35 parking ticket for street cleaning at 1am). Everyone in attendance was friendly and in great spirits. As an added bonus there were many attractive ladies to smile at. Beside my own, I dont think I've ever been exposed to so many other people with dreadlocks in one place. How very San Francisco... First up was Nick Forte who's set didn't really do anything for me. Next was Otto von Schirach who's set was entirely memorable and plenty of fun. He rocked the place with his shirt off and a wig on sounding on the mic much the same as he does on his latest album "Chopped Zombie Fungus" (which is spectacular imo). I particularly liked how easy-going and playful he was. He really seemed to be enjoying himself and was doing much more than simply bobbing his head behind a laptop. After Otto came Richard Devine who's set was pretty hectic and noisy. I somehow figured out how to dance to it (after several drinks and some tequila) and was in in the front making a fool of myself with the 2 other people dancing. He mainly just stood behind the laptop grimacing at the different sounds he was making with little other movement. Still, the set was good. By 1:30 I realized I still had work in the morning so begrudgingly I left before Phoenicia's set. All in all I had a pretty rockin' time :) Shimone/Justes http://www.staticbeats.com > Electronic Music > Digital Culture http://www.boomboombap.com > First Come > First Heard --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yeah, Likewise, I enjoyed the evening spent at said show. Though I really felt bad for OVS during his performance, since there was an afflluence of heads over at the other end of the Minna. However, I did like the fact that Otto just poked fun at it, turning down the volume and asking the crowd in tow if 'they hear that?' trying to win a unaminous vote from us, asking if they should kill the noise emating from the other end, he even poked fun at the people socializing in the far back, 'socializing like on friendster!' haha.....so fucking hilarious. Nevertheless, he pullled off an entertaining set, with much character to adorn it, he was definately appreciative of the crowd that were giving it their all, he conveyed great showmanship word up! Devine was off the fucking hinges with his ionized noise, having a awesome blend of the 303 sounds(on one particular track, I forgot) invigorating me to try to dance...however the speaker on the left got overheated from Devine's aggressive exuded expression of his music (he was taking no prisoners with his set) I loved every minute, eventhough I kept in mind that my ears would begin to ring from the consumption of noise thereafter (fuck it!) **hehe** Yeah, that was pretty much the night for me, I had to be at my car before 2 am (for streetcleaning) so my company and I had to leave before we would hear a single sound from Phoenecia **sad** Nevertheless, it was overall a great night, I loved the energy from the musicmakers and the people that were feeling it, that was pretty much enough for me (all i need). word. June. Lidenskapp_ btw: I think I did see you dancing (Staticbeats) during Richard's set, you weren't that bad...hehe....Cheers!
