Greetings!
It's been nearly five months since the last newsletter, and many changes have
taken place since those days of yonder. We've switched distributors, signed a
handful of new artists, and soon, we'll be moving our offices, warehouse, and
barracks to a new location. Starting September 9, Context Free Media will be
located at:
526 Utah St.
San Francisco, CA 94117
USA
The new complex will be shared with Proptronix, Inc., the media conglomerate
headed by Matthew P. Curry aka Safety Scissors (
http://www.proptronix.com).
In addition to a stack of upcoming releases, look for a new Context website in
the next few weeks with a redesigned logo and an even slimmer interface!

CONTEXT RELEASE NEWS
I am extremely sad to announce that despite the sold out pressing of Twerk's
Motala EP, no money could be donated to the ICBL (Int'l Campaign to Ban
Landmines) due to lack of payment by our (now former) distributor. We're still
hopeful that some day they will pay their dues and we'll be able to direct the
money to its rightful place.
The good news is that manufacturing and distribution of Context is now in the
worthy hands of KOMPAKT (www.kompakt-net.de). Our first release with them,
scheduled for September 15, is a debut by an artist named Klunder from Perth,
Australia, entitled "Half Hidden by Trees" (TEXT12). Info and MP3s will follow
on the website.
The long awaited Context 10 mega-remix project, entitled "Context :
Unravelled"
is finally underway! "Unravelled" has become a three part series starting with
two 12-inches and finishing with a CD mix. The first installment is being sent
off to production this week, featuring remixes of Ben Nevile, Murcof, Sutekh,
and Portable by Sutekh, Kit Clayton, Portable, and Twerk respectively... can
you make sense of that?
Look for additional upcoming releases by Italy's Wang Inc. (who has recorded
for Mouse on Mars' Sonig label, among others) and Dave Aju, a rising star from
San Francisco who also has material in the works for the excellent Circus
Company label out of Paris. (
